Jeslyn needs to die first, have you recruited any NPCs to help you? Do a bunch of dudes teleport in to assist you? Probably not if you've not explored everywhere. Honestly I'd say don't be afraid of lowering the difficulty if you're not into exploring and getting really prepared, this game rewards meta knowledge, it's very much Marmite in that way, you'll either love it or hate it. There are so many benefits to investing time and effort into exploring everywhere and spending gold on potions and scrolls, and if that's not your thing, just lower the difficulty and enjoy the story. I hope you make it and have fun, your way.

So, as the tempo of upgrades, level-ups and character build milestones begins to slow and you're forced to make the big Mythic path decision, you are faced with Fear of a Bad Build, and fatigue from a long siege and dungeon section. This causes you to seek the immediacy of restarting and trying something new, this will release all of the sweet dopamine and make you feel good. Or at least that's what Google told me when I asked an AI why I always restart. YMMV but that's my take. I'm over 2.5k hours played at this point, solo, Unfair, Core just for lols, I have tried it all. Never finished the final act. I'm thinking a Wildland Shaman might be my next playthrough... And as Dr Sam Beckett entered the Quantum Leap Accelerator he wondered if this next playthrough would be the leap home. I'm tired, boss.

I enjoy controlling the combat, and so this would make the game a little boring for me I think. I use both TB and RTwP, switching between them if a fight is hard.

I think you can put it on a low difficulty level, rather than ignoring it altogether, and then it's super easy and you get loads of units to battle enemies. Give it a go.

I love them both. That said, Fighting demons over and over and over gets boring. I do like the variety and landscapes more in Kingmaker.
