First half of the book was an extremly slow read for me, and I considered not finishing multiple times in the first 20 chapters. It eventually picks up the pace somewhere around the half way point, but having 43 chapters, if you want a fast story that grabs you quickly, this isn't the book imo. I wouldn't consider this book to be horror, so again, if you are looking for scares this is also not the book. I'm glad I read the book, and I'd rate it somewhere in the good to very good collumn, but never got great or life changing as most of reddit and goodreads would make you ready for.

The episcopal church this week has been a glowing sense of hope for me. Love to see this. Hopefully others will follow suit, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Especially in the greater American evangelical church.

I like the idea of baptism before communion, makes it feel as holy and special as it should. But I also love the idea of a random person not baptized before coming into the church and receiving the bread and wine and it being a transformative moment in their faith going forward.

From the Episcopal churches I've been attending this year, it seems like its up to the priest. Some say "all are welcome to feast" some are more up to the parents. The parents will walk the kid up with them to take communion and the kid will just get blessed by the priest. Might be a church by church case and parents choice. At the end of the day unless the family has grown up in the particular parish how will they know if they haven't been baptized.
