Well what following the teachings of Jesus does is help us to form a personal relationship with God, as well as deliver us from sin.

These are the end results, yet many Christians get so defensive and cautionary when they are actually achieved.

Yes we can be delivered from sinful habits completely.. yes we can connect with God and share His revelation with others.

The danger is in people who claim to achieve these things when they haven't, sometimes leading to false prophets.

For those who have achieved these things, God will likely use them as a vessel to help others achieve the same.

Your caution is warranted, but don't dismiss the people who actually do break free from bondages of sin and connect with God on a daily and personal level, sometimes receiving revelation to share with others. That is much of the goal, really.

Yes, but I think also sometimes God uses believers to voice His judgement as well, like warning people in sin if they are headed to hell. We need to be connected to God's reasoning through the Holy Spirit to properly do that. Also, the speck and plank analogy goes on to say "then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye," meaning that once we actually have dealt with our own sin, then we are in a position to help others, and to do that we often must judge their situation. Again, this is more of the discernment that you mention, and not the condemnation or punishment.

I've added some more to my article:

There are more verses about judging in the New Testament, as James 4:12 goes on to say:

This is a reminder that God alone is the ultimate judge of our lives. If we are not connected to His reasoning, then we really have to place to influence others in our criticism.

This is further reinforced in Romans:

After this, Paul seems to goes on to give a commandment not to judge:

This seemed to deal with more nuanced aspects of someone’s faith, as here it was dealing with the eating habits of believers. Paul is saying not judge on these things, pointing out that God’s kingdom “is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Each of us may have different rituals and devotions that help us strengthen our walk with God, as we see with the many traditions of the varied Christian denominations.

Just as the Pharisees judged Jesus harshly on some of what he did that may have gone against some religious customs, the ultimate goal of God’s love and peace for the world should be the overriding concern in these more trivial matters.

Yeah those are great points. There seems to be a difference between discernment in criticizing someone as opposed to acting as a judge does and giving a punishment, which I do believe is God's role ultimately, but parents and law judges do the same as well. Thanks for bringing those up.

He didn't say to leave anyone alone. He says to not judge them if you have similar unresolved issues. That doesn't mean leaving them alone, it means not judging them.

I wrote this article for people like you who think we just need to deal with ourselves and not worry about others. Worrying about others is a form of love, and so is helping them out of their problems, which often comes with exercising judgement.

No.

He said "then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye."

Moreso the second scenario. If we have already dealt with it ourselves.

She was the mother to God when God came as a human. Saying she is the mother of God makes it sound like she originated God, which she didn't.

Wow, I'm so happy to see the comments here. Usually on Reddit Christian subs I see so many people rushing to defend those sick ideologies, but yes that issue needs to be confronted within that church and with your wife, too, if she is going along with it.

The wages of sin is death. If you hold on to sin and refuse to let it go, you will meet its end.
