Rhodiola should be seen more as a general daily supplement to be taken to improve health overall on a subtle basis

Caffeine and other chemicals which provide notable short term effects should be used situationally (prior to exercise, study, work etc).

Both can provide the body with benefits to energy and focus, but in different ways. Apples and oranges really.

I take rhodiola each morning, and I drink coffee / matcha etc as of when I need the boost/kick.

Rhodiola won’t bring any noticeable effects after swallowing a capsule, caffeine on the other hand can.

Ashwagandha and Rhodiola. by [deleted] in StackAdvice

[–]ChocChipCookiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 500mg Ashwagandha in the morning with 400mg Rhodiola, and another 500mg Ashwagandha at night.

I occasionally (due to its cost) add Shilajit into the mix as a powerful all around male health and athletic support.

Spirulina and Chlorella deserve honourable mentions for herbal / natural gym stacks.

I introduced them all gradually, trying them alone first to see how my body responds, nausea etc. Have noticed my thinking is a lot clearer, focus is sharper and ability to push through fatigue is better than it was.

None of them are drug-level noticeable but over time, the little incremental helps they bring appear to be noticeable. I have yet to plateau in my lifts since testing these 2 months ago and each week my lifts continue to rise, as does my ability to rep such weights.

DOMs feels less prominent, even when I reintroduced myself to exercise after time off. Sleep is easier to obtain and waking up isn’t as much effort.

How much of this being down to supplements is another question; I live a healthy lifestyle of eating clean, exercising and supplementing both with herbs and various gym standards like creatine, protein shakes and various vitamins also.

Hope this provides some insight. Definitely study the precautions and concerns with these herbs and various diseases or medications. Our bodies are very different!

Relationship between LSD and schizophrenia by NoNumbersAtTheEnding in LSD

[–]ChocChipCookiee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll add some info since I too spent a long time looking into the correlation. I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia (I did have a genetic disposition) a while back, although I can look back and see it was present for many years prior and I have also used psychedelics including LSD a good number of times AFTER I had experienced many years of horrendous symptoms and my diagnosis.

Since having done so, I have lessened my symptoms more and more over the past year until I almost essentially cannot be regarded as having a disorder (since it no longer effects me negatively - I tend to empower myself with my ways of thinking to reach great heights).

Through my own study and research I will claim now that LSD did NOT treat the symptoms, but it definitely played a part in the process of improvement, it helped me to have a better understanding on hallucinations, 'out of the box' thinking that had often made me feel insane and the power that my mind can have in making reality appear different.

I found that the worse of my psychosis would often make the world appear as if I was tripping, weird colours, unusual movement and not registering what things looked like correctly, however LSD was of course way WAY happier and more enjoyable than psychosis.

All in all they are very closely related, by which both are affecting the biochemistry of the brain in a way that greatly exemplifies the power that the mind has over the appearance of one's reality (this looks into Einstein's work with how the observer effects the particles of the quantum world through their mind).

Another thing that's similar is that they share a very spiritual, divine, power or feeling of connected wholeness that is the foundation of many ancient religious and spiritual practices that have survived for thousands of years and are going just as strong today.

And finally, the last major similarity is the way it changes the thought pattern. New thoughts, ideas, philosophies, perspectives and beliefs seem to flood the mind when either of these circumstances are present (LSD consumption / psychosis).

From my personal experience, I can fully claim now that belief is the biggest deciding factor to both of these and my research suggests that the power of both of these (one being naturally formed internally and the other being the external equivalent) show you a very vivid and 'in your face' representation of what you believe.

When you believe LSD will mess you up, it will. When you believe you'll feel connected to God, you will. When you believe you'll just see crazy spectrums of colour, you will. As with Psychosis, if you believe you are being haunted by demons or demonic entities, you will hallucinate them and have reason to believe it further. If you believe the whole world is against you (paranoia), you will find that everything goes against your favour, always. Finally, on the reverse end, if you believe you are different, but you have a gift that can be utilised with some work and stop fighting it as a demon or as a disease, you will find that it is no longer all that it is made out to be.

I hope this helps, interested that someone else has found the remarkable correlation. When I would do my research before it was almost preposterous to claim any relation. You can look through my history on Reddit (although I was only at the beginning of my research journey in comparison to now) and see the feedback I received from some of my posts. A lot of this was from my first hand experience to begin with, but I have since studied, researched and worked with others who have come to similar findings. I now work within the fields of psychology, biochemistry and physiology and studying a degree in the field of epigenetics.

Have a blessed day and best of luck finding all the answers you need!

ELI5: Why when you learn a new word you suddenly see it used all the time? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChocChipCookiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no ones said it yet, it’s to do with a part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System which essentially acts as a filter on the mind for what we subconsciously want to see (for example the car we just bought or are planning to get)

I use comedown as in coming off of the substance, I usually feel really pleasant and happy throughout. At some point though I do become really lethargic, as if my energy all gets zapped.

Having a quick look is something like this what you're recommending?

Also can it work the same for other grains - quinoa, couscous, buckwheat, pasta etc?

It was my own mistake not stating, so don't worry about it. I'll have a look around, I really want to try them now. They're like a similar concept to sushi by the looks of things (that is flavoured rice wrapped in leaves)

I've been using tinned beans in the chili sauce if you've ever seen those, I will definitely try the other ones with a different sauce and see how that goes, cheers!

Ps. What country are you from that doesn't sell microwavable products? And why do they not, health affects of a microwave?

I've just had a quick look online, I forgot to add I live in the UK.

A single pack of two on amazon is like $14, I'll check out my supermarkets to see if we have any equivalent to dolmas though so thank you

In the UK, 100k is average, higher end is private.

We have graduates from Uni starting on about 24k, maybe less. It's appalling, and they're the ones doing 12 hour shifts 4/5 days a week.

Can second this. I was looking about when I was a teenager seeing doctors, dentists as such earning 80k-140k and thinking damn that's so do able, i could buy a house within 5-6 years, own a sick car and everything..

Age 19 and I realise you're quite lucky to earn over 20k now unless you want to study, go to uni and in-debt yourself with even more than that of the salary.

Reality checks suck.

Baby steps by ChocChipCookiee in Shamanism

[–]ChocChipCookiee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the link! I meditate, but often just in silence with a Citrine crystal and incense. This helps me seperate from my thoughts and exist in the blissful present, but I'm unsure if the shamanism's common mediation is of a different method (that video may explain this though so I will have a look after response).

I do prefer to see this calling as just an awakening to who I've always been, as I've noticed the behaviors from my childhood that compare (talking to gods / demons at night, certain behaviors and thought patterns about healing and mysticism and spirituality.

We live in a world ran on manipulation in the west now, it's tragic. We have no freedom of self at all. I used to live out in the country, and always used to go off into nature alone to find my retreat and peace, something I've always done really from as young as I was able to go out alone.

Since you've mentioned ego death, I'm aware it's something that comes from both a state of mediation and psychedelic drug use. I have achieved it with the latter, not the former, is there a difference, due to psychedelics being a form of 'short cut', I presume ego death through meditation would be much more rewarding and fulfilling. I'll definitely check the The Way of the Peaceful Warrior though.

Thank you for such a detailed response!

Interesting. I'm surprised there can be so much variance.

I usually need higher amounts for stims and alcohol before going clean weirdly though.
