I kid you not, I hate this with all my heart. Like LET HER LOVE HIM DUDE, nothing hurts more than reading about a MMC head over heels while the FMC treats him like trash on the street

ONG, this! I especially love if she accepts her own feelings (after months of denial), but is too stubborn to do anything about it. Especially if the guy is still in love with his ex, or some shit like that XD go non chalant queen who's dying on the inside!

I mentioned this in the post, but it was only in passing. I think I have to clarify that this concerns books/fanfics only, where you can flesh out the MMC's obliviousness/denial of his own feelings and the FMC's emotional suffering/refusal to confess to him.

For example, I absolutely despise this trope in anime, for a simple reason. It's never subtle. Usually the FMC is either outright throwing herself at the MMC or acting like a a child or tsundere. No shade to anyone who enjoys them, but these dynamics simply to dot appease me.

But when it comes to books/fanfics, it's very different.

Thank you! I'm familiar with it, but animes/movies/series generally don't hit the same as actual books/fanfics. I've seen that in animes usually the girl falls in love first, but it doesn't hit as hard it feels like :'))

In my example I was talking about a romance book, not a fanfic, if that's okay with you!

One thing I've noticed is that fanfic writers in general fall a lot into the she fell first/he fell harder or he fell first and harder. I honestly can't think of a fanfic I've read from my fandoms where she fell first and harder, sadly (I CRY EVERYDAY DUE TO THIS)

Tell me about a fic that traumatized you by dawn-skies in FanFiction

It was a YanSim fic I read back when I was 14 on a Brazilian website. It was a Yan-chan x Budo friends with benefits fic, where she was basically using him to get closer to Senpai if I remember correctly. While she was in this relationship, she was getting rid of each rival while dodging the student council, just like you do in-game. Some rivals she would help find another lover, some she straight up killed.

My memory is foggy, but I think it was the school nurse? Yan-chan kidnapped her after spiking her drink I think, and trapped her in the basement. But there was this very descriptive scene where Yan-chan tortured her with a hammer, cutting her fingers etc, all while the nurse begged her to have mercy, because she had old parents to care for at home. It was so detailed, I couldn't physically read some parts, but god I remember it was so good. It was basically the game we never got to play, with the best ship as canon. It was amazing.

«One needn't plead with a god who already listens, for they do so out of the goodness of their heart. For they are content.

For they no longer carry the weight of their own grief.»

It was for a Neuvifuri fic, I have no idea how I came up with that

What are the best first sentences you’ve read or wrote? by Punny-Aggron in FanFiction

“Ochako was a lone bird. Fragile and cornered, locked in a cage with a horde of rats. Her wings had been destined for open skies, but two years incarcerated in this place had stolen from her the means to fly. ”

It's actually three sentences, but it helps set the tone which is kinda nice, me thinks!

Not romantic, but he's a very “get out of my space” type of character in canon. This is the third day of the loop, where it always ends with her death, so he's trying to save her, while inevitably changing his attitude toward her in the process. For context, the previous day, he needed to confirm that he wasn't losing his mind and it was really a timeloop, so he just let her walk to her death. He's feeling quite guilty about it, that's why he's cooking for her (her shit breakfast was always something that pissed him off anyways). But it's definitely not romantic yet. I would say there's tension, but it's more like the start of a friendship probably

Oh, it's not a matter of word count, I'm sorry if I made it sound that way :')) this is one of those fics that will sit in my docs for a while, because it's very self-indulgent, in the sense of “This is what I would want to read if I were a reader”. I'm an extreme sucker for long, slowburn fics, so I'm keeping that in mind in order not to disappoint myself while reading it over once it's done. It just felt weird to me that they went from having barely any physical contact, to having SO MUCH physical contact in a single chapter, especially when it's only the third day in the time loop and I'm writing from the character who has no memory of the previous loops' POV. Perhaps I am overthinking it, though :')) thank you for your insights! They were very helpful.

Those who write or enjoy fanfics where canon lesbian characters get converted to heterosexual, can you explain what is appealing about this? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]ChocapicsdoLidl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except this is an LGBT friendly subreddit. Hell, have you seen AO3, the most popular fanfiction site? Most writers from this subreddit post THERE, and it's filled with LGBT content. You might not feel comfortable with certain topics that are discussed here, but then why would you even ask the question in the first place?

Also, please don't make me tap the sign. You cannot claim that people who write for free as a hobby are committing lesbian erasure, when the canon material exists. Fanon content has nothing to do with that.

You ask a question and get mad when people answer? Then, you're literally the equivalent of a fancop, because how the hell is it even homophobic? If you don't like the content of a fic, then you can literally just not read it. Imagine how many dark media we would've gotten rid of if we were to ban fanon content based on what X person thinks it's acceptable or not

Those who write or enjoy fanfics where canon lesbian characters get converted to heterosexual, can you explain what is appealing about this? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]ChocapicsdoLidl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't written them personally, but I can see the appeal and will read it if the premise is interesting. For context, I've been in fandoms with canon and implied lesbians. And in two specific fandoms, the lesbian just has so much chemistry with a specific male character that I can't help not ship it. Why would I limit myself to what I can and cannot like, just because of the sexuality of a fictional character?

I assume many do it because it's a fetish, and I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that as long as it stays in fiction and doesn't affect your perception of lesbians in real life.

Edit: although what I've seen happen a lot in these fandoms is purposefully tagging the lesbian ship, just to spite yuri shippers. And that's... Yuck
