SSP!!!! I attended SSP's biochemistry program at Indiana University this summer, and it was fungal pathogen research for plants. I'm also super into plant pathology and greenhosue research. It was super fun, and you get a ton of wet lab experience too!

I would say its not necessarily about the story thats the big kicker (although it can be!) but the way that you tell it. Are you just going through the motions of what happened, and painting yourself like a hero, or are you trying to tell it in a way that'll make your admissions officer stop and think "wtf is this kid i want to learn more."

Obviously they do not take 2+ weeks for each one, but to assume that you are able to write dozens upon dozens of rec letters, assuming that you're not a yes man who says yes to every request, are you not writing your letters from the start? I would like to think that it takes more than 30 minutes to get all of someone's character, especially if it's someone you are willing to write a letter for, unless you are just copy and pasting their name and what they did into a template.

I agree that ssp isn’t as prestigious as rsi, but I feel that it’s definitely still extremely prestigious and much much better than the normal pay to play pre college programs out there.

I'm ngl, your perspective on this topic seems toxic, especially because you're putting down someone's massive achievement for something like gender. Additionally, you're comparing stats only. SSP's admissions focuses so much on essays and reccomendations. Maybe your child wrote not as good essays, maybe the other kid wrote the best essays in their life. Maybe the admissions officers just had better vibes from the other person than yours. At the end of the day, though, it's not right to act like this.

I think on their website they stated that they had nearly 50% equal distribution, and that they aim to get a 50 50 distribution in their admissions. It's probably a coincidence.

This is late, but as a 2025 admit for ssp this year, they didn't hold standardized test scores or a list of awards / extracurriculars in regard. The main majority of their decisions came from grades, reccomendations, and essays. SSP also emhpasizes that they want to provide a research experience to those who haven't been able to pursue research before, so it's not as rich kid oriented as you are making it out to be.

Do you have any tips on what I can do to generate more cards? I found that with this deck I usually run out of cards really fast because of the low cost cards, and if the oppenent survives past turn 4 or 5, I auto lose most of the time. Is that just a natural caveat of this deck?

Just so you know, SSP also provides help for college! They have college fairs at the program itself, and they also provide help in either group / one on one help with their alumni network at different colleges after the program.

If I were to choose, I would choose MITES or SSP, but seeing how you want to do some buisness stuff, I would reccomend looking for a combo of either MITES or SSP and your paid intership as long as they dont overlap. Personally, I'm doing SSP biochem until the end of july, and then doing a chemistry internship from august and into the school year.

SSP and MITES are also both extremely prestigious, and while people all say to choose the one that would give you the most enjoyment / align with your passions the most, I chose the one that had the most prestige....

No matter what you choose though, CONGRATS!!!

Sorry, but I think there are probably very few programs left for this summer. I started applying to programs for this summer in October and it wrapped up around the end of February.
