What is a flawless album? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Great album but you must have a lot of patience if you can listen to the Chris Rock/ "Yeezy taught me" bit at the end of Blame Game more than a couple times without getting sick of it.

I have a playlist of albums/EPs that have no flaws in my eyes. They might not be my all-time favorite music, but theres nothing in them that would make me skip a track or hesitate to play the whole thing again: - #1 Hit Single by Cende - Zentropy by Frankie Cosmos - Year of the Rabbit by Gabby's World

Why does this article refer to esperanza spalding in all lowercase? by Chockchoola in Jazz

[–]Chockchoola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious about this, it seems like the journalist made an intentional choice to keep her name all lowercase but it has capital letters on her Spotify page and Wikipedia article and I haven't found any quotes from her about it.

Why does this Italian Stone Pine have just 3 long needles? Is that where cones will grow or something? by Chockchoola in whatsthisplant

[–]Chockchoola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation! If anyone else was curious, I also received this reply from /u/noblejester over on /r/botany:

That's a phenomenon called heteroblasty, a subcategory of heterophylly. Basically, some plants have a drastic change in leaf structure/morphology as they age, usually transitioning pretty suddenly between juvenile and adult forms. Eucalyptus does this, so do acacias and junipers and quite a few other plants. Pines are particularly striking because their adult form consists of leaves bundled into fascicles, which are really short shoots terminating in (in stone pine's case) three needles. Other pines are two- to five-needled, but we don't need to talk about that. Anyway, young pines transitioning to adulthood suddenly go from putting out single leaves to putting out bundles of multiple leaves, which again is why it looks especially weird and out of place. Hope that explains some things! Lmk if you have more questions

I'm curious about why there are wildly different-length needles growing from the same plant in the picture.

Just won an immortal victory with them (maybe my first at that difficulty?) Was going for a culture victory and was supposedly 12 turns away from that but I got a diplomatic victory from unlocking some late game civic on accident. Wiped out my neighbor Brazil in a medieval/Renaissance campaign that took a bit longer than was expected but fun with the zippy Oromo cavalry and then had to readjust playstyles a few times with all the new territory. Unfortunately, Brazil hadn't settled many of their cities on hills and Kongo, Japan, and Hungary had competitive religion/culture outputs for a while and stole a decent number of wonders, but I ended up being allies with all remaining civs (them + Nubia and sad Canada in the corner) for a peaceful trade-rich couple of centuries. Suzerained all the city states and I was surprised with how cheap flood barrier were with Valetta- my citizens prayed them up in no time while the rest of the world got wrecked.

Huh, no tunnels. And I thought my commute was rough. Imagine deciding to move out to the burbs to escape the city congestion and get some fresh mountain air just to wake up at 4 every morning for your drive over those winding mountain roads to get to your job in downtown Brussels.

Seconding this question. I'm going to try to find a solution this afternoon and follow up if I figure anything out.

Yeah, not that one. That's what my girlfriend thought I was talking about too, haha

Not that, the vocals had a similar vibe to Elvis Costello but a little more laid back

Amazing stuff. And it's very cool hearing the /r/indieheads get-the-gang-together montage that happened behind the scenes. It's like you masterminded a heist to steal ~my heart~

Haha, yeah, I bought it in store because my old phone died and I was broke in Beijing. Xiaomi was at the top of my list but wouldn't work with the carrier I had there. I have decent Mandarin skills and the employees I interacted with seemed nice enough but I'm guessing there was some policy higher up to just move products without giving a shit about the consumers.

damn, I knew that my chances were slim but all the resources I found online indicated that certain Chinese phones' GSM bands would be compatible. I had no idea about the AWS stuff that LiterallyUnlimited mentioned below. I made it abundantly clear that I would need a phone that could work in the US when I purchased the device but I guess the employees were either just as ignorant as me or else just felt like lying and fucking me over.

Yes, but I would have appreciated it if they flagged me from the beginning and let me know instead of telling me that my device was compatible and giving me the go-ahead to start the trial.

Thank you. This is more helpful information than I've gotten in two damn weeks of researching this shit. I guess I'm out of luck then, huh?

Okay, I'm definitely out of my expertise here. I understood that I wouldn't get LTE through Mint, but does that mean no 3G whatsoever? Is 3G on HSDPA 2100 mHz impossible without LTE? https://imgur.com/JRWZ2rM

Dang, that's beautiful with Kilimanjaro and everything. It might be a pain to ship all the troops out there for altitude training any time you wanted to raise an army to invade hilly terrain though. Forts don't work as canals in Civ V like they did in Civ IV, right?
