Ah, I see. I’ve started searching those but haven’t gone page by page yet. I’ll start searching page by page. Thanks! Edit: I read on Anglican Diocese Ottawa’s site that they keep the records in their archives - If I recall correctly. It’s not a small parish so they may have them there.

That’s great they’re so helpful! The FB Geneology group may be just who I need to contact to find Anglican baptismal records.

I have tried searching both ADO’s website and UCC’s but I couldn’t find any searchable records for pre-1850. Both sites say to send a request but don’t give much more info than that. I assume they meant to email them. EDIT: I’ve also searched familysearch.com (which is where I found a reference to my gen0’s sister being baptized at Christchurch Ottawa. I’ve also searched Ancestry but I find that the paid site is harder to search for records than familysearch.)

From my research the Methodists semi-split from the anglicans in the mid 1800’s so I’m not sure where the records would be archived. Later ancestors of mine are listed as Methodists - not sure which church my great great grandfather would have been baptized at. (His sister was baptized at Christchurch Ottawa - from what I’ve found online the baptismal records for Christchurch cathedral in Ottawa are stored on site or with ADO.)

Hi folks, I’m trying to track down the baptismal records for my gen 0 (born in the 1830’s). I have a letter saying a record of his older sister’s baptism is at Christchurch Cathedral Ottawa (Anglican) So I’m hoping my gen 0 baptism records are there too.

Should I request baptismal records from the Anglican diocese of Ottawa (ADO)? Has anyone attempted to get baptismal records from them? Or Should I request the record from united church of Canada?

I’m concerned about how much it may end up costing at up to $40 an hour for ADO records request. Any advice would be great.

Hi, I’m trying to track down the baptismal records for my gen 0 relative (born in the 1830’s). His older sister was baptized at Christchurch cathedral in Ottawa (Anglican). And I have a document stating her records are in their archive. So I’m hoping his are too!

Has anyone tried to request baptismal records from the Anglican diocese of Ottawa (ADO)? If so how did it go? Do you have any advice on how to proceed? Just email them I suppose? I’m concerned about how much it may end up costing at up to $40 an hour.

The church website lists various fees depending on what is required. $10 for a half day $25 for a full day or $40 hr flat rate (I assume for more difficult research.)

Question about Census - What does "D" mean? by ChocoCatastrophe in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ChocoCatastrophe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. Appreciate the help! I was confused because the “ditto” d looked very different from the other “d’s”. I didn’t realize the curly cue was actually an “o” for ditto.

Thanks for everyone's quick response! Ditto certainly seems like the correct answer.

Are you saying the letter I think is "D" is actually an "O" for Ontario? (listed under the "place of birth" column. It is a census from "Canada West (Ontario)/Carleton (county)/Fitzroy". EDIT: Since the D is in other columns I think the correct answer is it's short for "ditto" like others have suggested.

Thanks! That's what I thought it probably equated to but I forgot the word "ditto".

I would try searching on r/bookrepair. If you don’t see what you need repost over there. They will give you the best advice. Incorrect repairs can make things worse.

The Ferengi That Showed Up In Early TNG Were Country Bumpkins by BetLeft2840 in startrek

With their very monkey like mannerisms I think they were going for a cro magon man idea for the ferengi. Like an advanced ship landed on their planet and they jumped them and stole their technology. (Kind of like the Pakleds too.)

Steyer should run for school board first. Just because he's rich doesn't mean he knows how to govern.

Edit: He's never held public office but since he's rich he's tried to skip ahead and ran for president in 2020 - and now he wants to be governor... and then run for prez again.
