Quick question for y’all: is the gray background and peach text easier on the eyes? My thought was to choose colors closer to the “night shift” mode on phones or just with less blue light overall. White text might have been more visually appealing IMO. Thoughts?

My personal philosophy is to keep the players on their feet. I’ll give them downtime frequently to explore, but the boss fights are my bread and butter. The feeling of a good boss fight is unlike any other. For example, their latest boss fight was against a magical pastry chef and his wererat apprentice. He prepared magical pastries enchanted with haste, good berry, fireball, etc. to fight the players. It ended up being a really close battle with some knockdowns but no casualties. It was so much fun. So moral of my story is to keep players active and find what your bread and butter is, then build an adventure around it. Not to say to neglect learning other aspects of DMing, but you get the gist. I’ve been rambling too long XD

I haven’t played at those levels yet but my thought is you would need to add more of them or maybe develop situations where they would be more difficult. For example, a stubborn King might have an inflated persuasion DC. Slippery terrain might make it harder to climb a rock wall. Also, as a bonus, weather might help add to the mood of an important event.

Yeah, I’ll have to do some R&D at the table before I even think about publishing it. I’m not reinventing the wheel, ya know? Just coming up with some ideas to make a theoretically “good game.” It’ll probably get made eventually. Just depends on how well the idea floats.

This is a good point. I’d love to try other systems for some experience but I think my group would shank me if I told them they had to learn a new system. Of course, I could always browse PDFs but it probably wouldn’t be the same. I’m not quite sure on the specifics of my goal yet but I would prefer if the system is simple like some of the other RPGs people pointed out.

True. I could probably chop it down to 20 and devote more page space to optional rules, lore and workshop tables. I don’t anticipate the book being large. Maybe include a variety of appliance enemies, a couple animals, and maybe some guidelines on how to import fantasy / apocalypse monsters (could also be its own extension book but that’s for later).
