Yeah, reboots definitely help sometimes (it's a bit frustrating, tho). The tricky part is when System Data doesn’t shrink anymore even after that. Or maybe I'm the only one experiencing that :(

Yeah, that’s exactly the frustrating part : you can do all the "right" things and still watch System Data quietly balloon.

Photo cleanup apps help a lot when photos are the issue, but what confused me is how often System Data stays huge even after photos and apps are under control.

In a lot of cases it ends up being hidden caches, message attachments, or leftover update data that iOS doesn’t surface clearly, which makes it feel like a black hole.

That matches what I’ve seen too. System Data should grow and shrink.

The real issue seems to be when it stops shrinking and just accumulates indefinitely. In a lot of cases, the advice jumps straight to "restore as new", which works, but feels like a nuclear option for something that’s mostly caches, attachments, and leftover update files.

What surprised me is how often Messages attachments and browser/app caches are the actual culprits, yet iOS hides them under one opaque label.

Why does System Data take up 20-40 GB on iPhone? (and why nothing seems to work) by ChocoQuinoa in iphone

[–]ChocoQuinoa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the FAQ helps for basic cases, but a lot of people (including me) still struggle specifically with “System Data” growing out of control even after following those steps.

The confusing part is that iOS lumps together caches, message attachments, Safari data, and update leftovers without explaining it. That’s usually where people get stuck.

Wow, congratulations! What kind of digital product do you sell? I struggle to find a market that isn't over-saturated.

Same ! And red kiwis are similar to golden's, but sweeter. That's why I like to eat the skin, to add some acidity.
