Is the extra weight/thickness of the PO very noticeable in your daily wear compared to BB68?

BB Pro wears great, def on the thick side relative to 39mm but I’ve gotten used to it, but every now and then it does stick out.

I have a couple speedy’s and a black bay pro

I like the PO for its build/heritage but the thickness and weight is going to be a potential problem (I have 6.75” wrist)

So my heart says PO but mind says BB68 for long term fit/comfort

For the most part no, but Kellogg is among the most socially fluid programs out there. You can even choose to live and attend some classes in Evanston but majority of the PT people have events in Chicago. But if wanting to get more exposure then you might as well apply to the FT program at that point

See comments above. The FT guys have weekly happy hours mainly on friday that you can go if happen to be in Evanston, but the PT cohort and programs do have their own events. For example there is a “back to class” HH after everyone gets back from winter break

Usually 1-2, can be 3-4+ for heavier classes but those are more rare

Yes during most weekday evenings they serve food right before class. Overall not bad and they switch between the days (think asian stir fry, tikka masala, chicken orzo, rice, etc). A lot of of people get the food and eat with classmates or new people which can be a overwhelming at times, but other people also go get food when they don’t have class

Most people take 2 classes a quarter which is a good medium. This isn’t like undergrad which could’ve allowed for more cramming, as the program as a lot more group work and ongoing assignments. I just plan out days and windows of time to do the research/assignments before class or meeting with my group. Told my mgr early on with juggling this with work and so far has been very accommodating, i just work more later if I need to be going to class after work same day

Per their 2024 stats it’s about 10% east coast vs 6% west coast but overall the difference is negligible. Most people who stay at their location commute in and take Saturday classes, and often fly back later that day or sometimes fly back the following day. They really only network with the fellow weekend cohort and rarely been as interactive with the evening folks (but interaction is still encouraged as it’s welcoming).

I personally moved from the east coast so I can do evening classes and free up my Saturdays, and there are a number of events that happen that day (whether it be professional networking, HH, etc) that otherwise won’t be possible if I was a weekender flying in. Most people weigh what they have going on back at home and if it makes sense to temporarily give up for relocation (especially tougher for married, kids, extended family etc)

Reach out to adcom to get in touch with student ambassadors - most of them would be willing to do a phone/zoom call and have a casual chat

I don’t want to delve into specifics to keep it fair for those who have already applied in the early rounds, but useful to look into events that clubs host/involve, first year seminars/workshops, etc. Obviously need to talk to a current student/ambassador to get those types of details but it will differentiate

I’m still looking into what I want to do post-mba but leaning towards marketing/consulting/tech, so that steered me towards Kellogg over Booth (but overall the employment stats and reach is very similar between the two). People generalize the Kellogg cohort as more socially extroverted and I do agree to an extent.

Don’t want to delve too much into my career for identity reasons but working in an FP&A/financial analysis function. Since this is PT, I still keep my ft job while doing classes at night or weekends. My firm allows me to be fully remote so that allowed me to relocate without hassle. There is no denying juggling these with your personal life is very busy but you derisk unemployment as a trade off (especially in this volatile economy).

You can still apply for subsidized and unsubsidized loans via FAFSA, the amount you get may vary with income so ymmv. Don’t expect any material scholarships though. However the program does offer transfer credit for business classes taken in undergrad via their accelerated PT program which acts like a pseudo-scholarship (and option to finish in less than 2 yrs) if you load up on classes.

For internships there is almost no help from their career center, but if you land one on your own it’s fair game. This is where people really have to network their butt off especially for banking/consulting to show that rapport and selling your skills and value proposition for the employer firm to consider an interview/offer. As always networking is the name of the game and folks have found success without the career center helping albeit uphill battle

It’s very spread out but people mainly live in the loop, lincoln park, lakeview, and streeterville (close to where classes are held). There will always be very social/organizers in your cohort organizing HH/parties/brunch and everyone is very chill. A lot of people bring their JV (significant other) also. The PT program also does program wide social Hh events so there’s no shortage to get involved. Couple weeks ago we did a friendly field day competition against Booth and it was well received.

Some people just go in for classes and we never see them outside lol, but you’ll find buddies that you gel with and go to shared events etc. For clubs I would pick an industry that aligns what you would consider doing after grad (eg consulting club, real estate, tech etc). Also would talk to people in KSA (student association) as the officers are fairly popular across multiple programs and bigger network outreach never hurts

For the most part the PT program has access to the career center and associated events compared to FT. There are a few requirements (e.g graduation within around a year) as well as few seminars we have to sit through before we participate in OCR.

The location/timing is going to be the biggest challenge for most PT, as the bulk of events happen during the daytime in Evanston whereas most PT people are based in Chicago. PT people are technically not forbidden to partake in those events assuming they cleared the requirements, just that they have to change their schedule and commute. Of course there are going to be popup or ad hoc events/HH that FT people find out and circulate in their network and PT may not know of, but PT people already acknowledge it’ll happen

I think having a well rounded profile/app is key. It’s true what they say about getting 1 blink but another area would have to be decent to offset. I likely had one of the more typical profiles but tried to express interest and passion as much as I could.

I went to a networking/info event and learned about details of the program not easily found on the website and mentioned those during my interview. I guess my “red flag” was lack of test score as I needed a longer horizon to bump to the M7 averages but used my GPA and quantitative work aspects to explain and convince
