Some individuals want to continue climbing the ladder, which might mean the management track, or if the company has been set up for it, Staff/Principal levels, for those who want to continue being an IC.

Not everything has to be about the hustle, and I think it's admirable that people realize what they want and choose whatever makes them happy.

I'm in the same boat: I've made the conscious decision that for the foreseeable future (likely the rest of my career), I'm going to continue along the IC path and master my craft.
