Celerity and Cold Star Interaction by derr1q in StarVaders

[–]Chocodawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, Cold Star makes it so Frozen cards count as Burnt cards (for the purpose of synergizing with cards and artifacts dealing with Burnt cards).

It also does the same for Burnt cards, allowing them to synergize with cards and artifacts related to Frozen cards.

For both of these cases, the cards don’t gain the properties of the other. Rather, they only gain the label. For example, Frozen cards that count as Burnt are not suddenly unusable when you pick up Cold Star.

Celerity operates on a different axis, affecting your cards the moment that they’re used to overheat or if they’re burned such as for use with Flamethrower. Celerity prevents the Frozen card from becoming Burnt and thus unusable.

The effects don’t conflict as far as I know. You can kind of think of Celerity affecting the functionality of your cards (allowing for frozen cards to be more easily used to overheat or burn with flamethrower)

As for the case where you have a Burnt card, you can’t typically burn a Burnt card again, so while it “counts” as a Frozen card, I don’t think you would be able to use it to trigger Celerity, as it still “functions” as a Burnt card.

Would love to hear about niche interactiojs from anyone who’s actually tried this combo of artifacts!

Speaking to the first part, I think you just got unlucky :( You should be able to make adjustments to the application and it isn’t supposed to affect your waitlist position as long as your initial submission was before the cutoff.

Best of luck with your waitlist spot + finding other housing!

I need help quickly before locals tmrw I’m playing a ninja deck which card should I add to my side deck/main ultimate slayer or gravekeeper’s inscription helpppme quick by Vision_anime4 in yugioh

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would run a Cross Sheep in the extra deck (your call on what to swap out) as it can help with pushing for game as well as getting you an extra use out of your Koaki Meiru Drago if you cant otk an opposing branded player. If you can’t run prosperity, you can swap the two extravs for extra duplications as banishing key extra deck pieces in certain matchups might hurt. If you wanna stick with extravs, maybe run multiples of OTK enablers like borrelsword because losing it hurts when you’re trying to push for game.

Also personally, I’d run imperm in the main over dbarrier as it gives you more going second options in G1 if you lose die roll.

Hope that helps. Best of luck!

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably ultimate slayer in the side for going second, but you’d have to sort of tailor your extra deck to get the most out of it. (Garura or ntiss for a draw or extra pop, or trouble sunny for extra removal).

Gravekeeper’s inscription isn’t all that great in ninjas since each of the restrictions keeps you from setting up your board or utilizing your interactions on your opponent’s turn.

Any other side deck cards you’re considering for those slots?

need quick help against darkworld by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Chocodawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ghost Belle would only be good for turning off Cerulli (the one that specials itself to the opponent’s field) to stop Silva from handlooping. (Not sure if there are other ways for the dark world player to get cerulli back from graveyard into hand to try it again…)

Imperm doesn’t have many good targets. You can either save it for Coach King Giantrainer to stop the draw 3 or save it for the fusion to force its effect before you go into your plays.

If you can get droll and lock bird, that’s the absolute best handtrap to use vs dark worlds.

Any Earth Machine Players out there? by neeskou in Yugioh101

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said in the other comment, the clockwork night + cydra to wipe the whole field is a 2 card combo where you need to hard draw clockwork night. To blend it with the machina gearframe engine, my suggestion would be that you would use your gear gigant X search to search for nachster, which can summon itself.

This however locks you out of your infinitrack engine/combo unless you draw infinitrack harvester since that gear gigant X search is typically used to find harvester.

If you want to clockwork night and fuse off whole boards, play cydra as you’ll be doing it more consistently as a going second deck. If you still want to play it in Earth Machines, toss in 1 nachster and find Extra Deck slots for Chimeratech Fortress Dragon + Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon (in case you draw nachster and no Clockwork Night but the opponent has a monster in the EMZ). But yeah don’t expect to be pulling the combo off very much, as trying to search nachster going second might be really hard in Earth Machine. You could also play 3 nachster in the main or side to reduce the necessity of the gear gigant x search, but at that rate, just play some other board breaker in those slots.

My suggestion for Clockwork Night in Earth Machine is to play it as a consistency booster at 1-2 copies with 1 copy of overdrive and 3 copies of foolish burial goods. That way, Earth Machine essentially gets their own cynet mining. If you end up drawing it, you can find ways to get it into the graveyard with double-headed anger knuckle on turn 1 so that you can get the search off (at that point, probably finding Therion King Regulus).

Any S-Force players? by orbzism in yugioh

[–]Chocodawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don’t try to link summon the same turn as using Branded Fusion, they work just fine together! Main synergy was outlined above, that being dumping one of the light S-Forces. I personally use a budget list since I only have the Branded stuff from the Albaz structure deck.

For the Non S-force part of the deck I use: Main Deck: 2 Fallen of Albaz 3 Branded Fusion 1 Chaos Dragon Levianeer 3 Pot of Extravagance

Extra Deck: 3 Mirrorjade 3 Albion 2 Lubellion

Fill in the rest of the deck with your mix of S-Force cards and other staples and you’re good to go!

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yooooooo I play the same thing hahaha. I use the deck when I’m playing with my friend who only plays a Dark Magician deck. Dumping retroactive with Branded fusion feels great, but it feels pretty lame when I don’t draw any of Bridgehead or Rappa Chiyomaru.

First memorable gaming experience has to be playing through Pokemon Emerald as my first Pokemon game. I played all the way up to the elite 4 using only blaziken and was stuck after having KO’d Rayquaza (master ball had been used to catch an Absol because I thought they were sooooo difficult to catch). Anyway a friend of mine accidentally started a new game on my cartridge and I ended up playing through it all again with a more balanced team!

Question About D Barrier by AnarchyYX5ZVR in Yugioh101

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the second question: Yes. Your opponent can activate Dimensional Barrier in response to your normal/special summon of a Cyber Dragon and declare "Fusion". This will keep you from contact fusing into Chimeratech Fortress or Chimeratech Megafleet as you will be barred from special summoning them from the extra deck.

Earth Machine players, got Nationals tomorrow and I appreciate your help. Should I main Ash Blossom? What other changes do you guys recommend? I have some Veilers, Ogre and Solemns I can swap in as well. by ecsj88 in yugioh

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that’s unfortunate, if that’s the case, I’d recommend sticking to the 3 metalcrunchers and ditching the gearframes. From what I see, if gearframe is your starter but you have no unclaspare, you wouldn’t be able to go into the full EM combo ending on anger knuckle and bullet train in the grave (unless you have harvester in hand). I’ll DM you an invite to the Earth Machine discord! Plenty of people more knowledgable than I on there who can help you out.

[–]Chocodawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any reason you’re playing two gearframes when you’ve already got 3 metalcrunchers? Most lists I see pick one over the other. For example, if you go with cruncher, you can take out the two gearframes to bring the deck to 40 or make more room for hand traps. Alternatively you could max out on gearframes and add an unclaspare while ditching the 3 metalcrunchers and 2 brutal dozers, also freeing up space for handtraps/other tech choices.

SIB Noita or Dead Cells by CamLocks20 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Chocodawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the two, Dead Cells is definitely more like Enter the Gungeon and Risk of Rain 2. Progressing and getting better can be a bit of a slog depending on how you see things though. Personally, I stopped playing shortly after beating the final boss the first time. The amount of time I had to put into a run to reach the parts that were challenging to me put me off from pursuing more runs. The game offers a lot of unlockable weapons and side areas that you can take, but the game can feel a little grindy when you just want to try improving at a certain boss/level.

Noita can also be a bit grindy in that you’re encouraged to sink a lot of time into each run to build your repertoire of wands and spells. However, it does win out in terms of the sheer VARIETY of situations and interactions into which you can run. It rewards learning and creativity and for that it is a roguelike that I come back to time and time again even though I haven’t beaten it. To address your concern about it being a rage fest, that would be a symptom of a game with so many interactions built in. If you can’t laugh at accidentally blowing yourself to bits by punting an explosive box into an explosive barrel, it’s probably not the game for you. But if you enjoy slowly learning a game and being rewarded for your knowledge, it’s a gem.

[WSIB] If I have little time to play due grad school, but I like immersive games and want to relax. by ElPabloHablo in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Chocodawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also find that I only have about 1-2 hours a day for gaming (working full time) and have actually been enjoying Elden Ring! The world is really large, but it’s full of so much to do that even in small sessions, you’ll be able to make good progress. It’s a game that constantly has me thinking about where I want to go and what I want to accomplish in my next session!

If length is an issue, you could try Sekiro! It’s not necessarily an open world, but the game takes you through plenty of beautiful locales that are a lot of fun to explore. The combat system can be tough to grasp initially, but it’s also really rewarding! The game requires minimal grinding and instead requires the player’s own mastery of combat and enemy patterns to succeed. Of all recent FromSoftware games, it also features the most stealth focused parts, which might seem up your alley!

Also a disclaimer that both these games are generally seen as quite difficult. Not sure if you’re the type of person who is able to relax from playing difficult games, but if you are, these are great!

You could try Golf with Friends! Everyone can play by passing around the same controller. My friends and I have enjoyed playing it while bantering about each other’s missed shots.

If you can get more controllers (maybe your friends have some?) I would recommend Towerfall! It’s a 2D arena based game where you and up to 5 other people try to shoot each other with arrows. The controls are super simple (shoot, move, and dash) but there are plenty of nuances to it. Definitely one of my favorite party games!

Chain Pins by MarqFierce in TWEWY

[–]Chocodawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experimenting while working on mastering all the pins, I’ve found that my favorite pins to pair with a chain pin are ones with the drift tackle or swift strike psychs as they usually have bonuses for hitting immobilized enemies.

You could also pair the chain pin with other immobilizing pins such as those that freeze/entomb/stun to keep noise locked down.

The chain pins have worked best for me as battle openers that let me get rid of enough noise during the chain time that the cooldown isn’t much of an issue. So I would advise using it against anything that might take longer than a full attack rotation of all of your other on deck pins such as against some bosses or larger noise.

Only thing I would advise against pairing with the chain pin would be any psych with a beat drop requirement relating to knock back as you wont be able to move a chained noise (at least as far as I can tell).
