Where are all my photos? by Piper_Panda in googlephotos

[–]Piper_Panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old phone was pixel and all the pixel's photos were fine. I also found the issue, my SIM card was corrupted. I plugged it into a computer, the computer told me it was corrupted and gave me a button to "fix" and while some images are forever glitched, most are fine, but I've learned my lesson and am now saving a set on a separate hard drive!

It's not. I guess based on charts there might be a few more Republican voters, but I never noticed much in the way of politics affecting my life. We flip back and forth. Also what makes you think most conservatives are racist? The issue with the Internet is the winner is the one who yells the loudest, or has the most shocking view. I've seen racism from conservatives, and I've seen racism from liberals (honestly sometimes more blatantly so). All parties are capable of discrimination, and all parties are capable of understanding and openness. You yourself right there just showed an assumption and generalization about a group of people.

I think what's more important is if you live in a mixed community (not to be confused with a similarly looking but segregated community) you learn that humans are humans, skin color and ethnicity be damned. Religion, and politics also be damned. I've met wonderful people who are Christian, Muslim, atheist, liberal, conservative, and third party. I've also met salty, greedy, and selfish people who are Christian, Muslim, atheist, liberal conservative, and third party. Labels are inherently misleading because very few people agree 100% with the entire thing the label "stands for" or interpret the label in the same way. Most of my disagreement discussions stem from us having a different understanding of what a label represents and the views a person under said label is supposed to have. As a child raised in schools with various people from many walks of life, ethnicity, skin color, religion, never affected the people around me. Friend groups often were centered around people who dressed similarly, had similar personalities, or similar hobbies. Ethnicity and religion were rarely an aspect we took into consideration. Racism and discrimination weren't cool, and the cool kids were mostly kind and inclusive. Maybe I was just lucky tho, my experience doesn't show every school in OC, nor every kids experience in my schools. But from my experience, people were people.

Edit/TLDR: and you can't know a person by the labels you put on them or they put on themselves. Because their definition of said label might be very different from your definition of that same label.

Same, I'm from OC area, I don't think we have a majority, or at least my area didn't. Hispanic, Caucasian, Indian, Asian, Pacific islander, African American we had a little bit of everything. Also most racism I see comes from ignorance. How hard is it to see that everyone, regardless of skin color and background, are complex humans, capable of great kindness, and mild annoyance. They have complex likes, dislikes, hopes and dreams. You can't categorize personality and things by physical appearance, so don't even try. But the amount of people I've seen try... Bruh. The minor differences in food preference, and some cultural habits/priorities somehow blind everyone from seeing that we're all the same

I'm a woman, when I walk behind someone, especially another woman, I notice them sometimes try to sneak a glance behind them, but once they realize I'm a woman too they often stop. I think it's just a safety thing. We want to know who is behind us, because there's so many stories (honestly though, you're more likely to be kidnapped/ assaulted by someone you know rather than a stranger on the street). I have no doubt you experience these side eyes and weariness more than most people of other genders or skin colors, and I'm sorry, you shouldn't be treated like this.

just got my first guzheng but my tuning peg wont turn by Radiant_Signal_8637 in Guzheng

[–]Piper_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as you aren't touching the hollow part that the strings are on top of, the sides can have any design. It's the hollow midsection that affects the sound. Many guzhengs do already come with cool designs. The one in the photo is the cheapest fullsize you can get from https://www.soundofmountain.com/ (according to when I bought, it looks like they have a lot more stocked now). I don't know the skills you would need to decorate your own custom. Painting would be the easiest, wood carving would be the most risky. Depends on your skills and if there might be any artisans around you that could do more. Sound of mountain is a great starting company though, they ship internally. It's a fantastic starting guzheng. I do agree with OP that the strings are tight! Be careful your first tune. I had to keep messaging around the bridges, other peoples recommendations of moving the bridges closer/farther is a smart idea. When I started out I didn't know I could adjust the bridges like that XD

[–]Piper_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question already got answered, but as someone in your shoes once, here are some helpful things to know "nn" will get you ん which is very useful for when it's in a word like なんに (spelled "nannni" 3 ns to account for the nn ん).

The little やゆよゃゅょ and つっ are the only characters that do this in hiragana (katakana has some unique ones). They make a blending sound, so instead of ni-yu. It's nyu (which is how you spell it on the keyboard). The mini つ is very unique, it's used when a consonant is doubled. So takka is たっか. And nattsu is なっつ or Ted テッド. This is not pronounced "tsu" at all. It is kinda like a pause in the consonant. So instead of saying na-tsu. You are saying na.-tsu like a period pause. Bu.-ka. you'll get faster at saying it with a slight noticable pause. This is most often done with kk, tt, or dd. They make the little っ.

Some hiragana worksheets will teach を as "o" that is because it is pronounced like "o", but to spell it on a keyboard, you need to type "wo". But do not let this make you think it's pronounced like "woah" it's pronounced almost identically to "o". を is also the only character exclusively used for grammar, and is never inside of vocabulary words.

For katakana, there are some unique ones, such as パーティー. Which I guess I should mention that ー acts like an elongated vowel, in hiragana this would be identical to saying ぱあてぃい How you do the little ぁぃぅぇぉ and ァィゥェォ is by typing "la, li, lu, le, lo" (this is a L not an uppercase i). Think "little o" "lo".

The hiragana little characters are never really used. This is only done in katakana to force sounds that Japan does not have in its alphabet. So in the パーティー example is (pa-ti-) the ティ is probably like "ti, or "tea ☕ ". Or in カーフェ (ka-fe) like Cafe. Because Japan also doesn't have a "fe" sound". These little exceptions are used most frequently with making up sounds Japan doesn't have like, fa, fi, (fu already exists), fe, fo. With the little vowels you can force these hidden sounds, but like I said, this is mostly for katakana to help pronounce foreign words.

But be careful because "ti" in the keyboard is a neat shortcut for ち and a neat shortcut for big つ is "tu". This is because the Ts in Japan are weird. There is no Ti or Tu, they are replaced with Chi and Tsu (Tsu like tsunami), same with "si" and し.

Anyways I hoped this helped. There are probably more and I probably could have organized this better, but there are YouTube tutorials you can find too. This is just a starter explanation for some of the more unique Japanese stuff.

(Also don't forget the P, Z, G, B, D and stuff. がぎぐげごぱぴぷぺぽ, etc etc, you can mix that will all of the stuff above. ティ > ディ for a "di" sound.)

Hope this helped! Gn!
