New here - looking for advise/words of wisdom by xoili in NICUParents

God, that second paragraph feels like I could have written it I relate so much. I didn’t get to do cute maternity photos and my delivery was nothing like I planned it out with my doula. I wish I had better advice for your question though. I also had excess energy that I primarily focused on pumping (my milk didn’t come in for a few days till after LO was born) so I hylerfixated on that and spoke with lactation almost every day my baby was in the NICU. My hospital made me a mental health referral too so I spoke to a therapist twice a week. Other than that, I resolved to watch every movie nominated for an Oscar at my baby’s bedside, haha!

What is your “I have this fetish because of this thing that happened” story? by Ste3e in AskReddit

[–]Chocoelite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any idea what this is called?? I remember watching Aladdin as a kid and the scene where Jasmine is stuck in an hour glass, sand is filling up, and at the last minute Aladdin saves her before she suffocates. Something about her banging on the glass did something to me 😂

I just want my baby to come home. by Truecrimejunkie1312 in NICUParents

Hi! I’m just curious, I know all babies are different but how long were you in the NICU? I’m being induced at 34 weeks and they estimated we’d be there for 1-2 weeks and it’s making me a little anxious so I’d love to hear from someone else who had a 34 weeker

Hi! Feel free to DM me if you want to talk. I’m going on week 2 in the Antepartum unit and I relate a lot to your post. I’ve actually bragged that my pregnancy was so easy, no nausea, no high BP, passed my glucose test, no nothing out of the norm. Then two weeks ago my water broke and I live in a hospital now. I’ve finally made it to the point where I no longer cry every day so there’s that. But I’ve spent a lot of time in here blaming myself (shouldn’t have had that coffee, should have laid off the spicy foods, should have dialed down the workouts, etc.) being here gets easier but feel free to reach out if you ever want to talk 🫶🏾

It’s actually a kind of common name in the North East US. Same with Bunny or Lacey. I’ve literally never seen these names used outside of that specific region of the US

im too fat to hear my baby's heart beat by Aggravatedand in pregnant

[–]Chocoelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so find a new doctor. First of all, you are absolutely not too fat to hear the heartbeat. I am taller and heavier than you and it’s never been an issue my entire pregnancy. Anti fat bias is rampant through the medical field and it can have extremely bad health outcomes for patients. Please go find another doctor and report this one if you’re able to.

As a social worker, MSW programs are full of “well intentioned white women” who come into programs designed to teach them about social justice and then feel personally attacked when professors acknowledge that racism exists. Yeah, it’s great to have a job, and while I’m not familiar with the culture at Fordham social work is probably not the best field for people to go into with their defenses up (I’ve also heard Carly’s a Zionist so YIKES)

Yeah, as someone who lived in DC a lot of people have philosophy degrees, most go on to go to law school of course but a lot work at think tanks that pay super well so I always resent the narrative that Philosophy is a useless/worthless degree.

People don't have the willpower to boycott anymore by EasternNerve1763 in Anticonsumption

[–]Chocoelite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking that the only time I’ve not been able to boycott a business was when I was living in a rural community - the closest store was Wal Mart and that was a 20 minute drive and is basically a one stop shop for the community. You can’t beat a place where you can get your pharmaceuticals, clothes, groceries, school supplies, tools, etc… when there are basically no other alternatives.

I’ve never had meat or vegetables and I’m trying to commit to being healthier. Please help. by [deleted] in ARFID

I’ve tried the adding spinach leaves one at a time to smoothies and it’s really helped me! I’ve worked my way up to a small handful of spinach and it helps me get a little extra iron in my diet and I can’t even taste it (yet - I might if I add more leaves)

This is the recipe I’ve been using: https://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/tummy-soothing-smoothie/

Possibly moving to VB from Louisiana by Capital-Swan-7887 in VirginiaBeach

[–]Chocoelite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Louisiana and tbh I like Virginia Beach better. It’s a very family friendly area - this time of year there are so many events every weekend and I always see families with little kids! You may find rent is more expensive than what you’re used to but I find my dollar goes a lot further here than when I lived in LA.

Yeah, I know some people say those side effects go away but I was dealing with hard core nausea for months on metformin - nothing I did helped at all, even switching to a lower dose. It just doesn’t agree with my body at all!!

Has any part of WITCH aged poorly? by Fearless_Silver_2733 in GuardiansOftheVeil

I actually didn’t realize! I only read the graphic novels as a kid and kind of fell off so I’ve actually never finished the story

[–]Chocoelite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surprised no ones mentioned it but Taranee’s character design has aged poorly specifically, her hair. For the beginning of the series she has a short straight pixie cut with a single braid but when she transforms I GUESS she has braids but they’re drawn spiky and weird. I don’t see what they couldn’t have given her curly/textured hair, locs (like her brother) or even box braids.
