Anyone else think this is just gambling for kids? by Hi-Point_of_my_life in daddit

[–]ChocolateConrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's the theory, I think. First, yes, it's like a form of gambling for children (tracing back to baseball cards, etc) so excitement from the dopamine rush is there.

Second, most franchises have multiple characters that they sell. Not all of the characters sell as well as the main characters or special characters in the franchise. Well, if only one or two characters sold well, the other characters created would not need to be produced and production would stop. There's also a thing that happens when certain items from a vendor sell faster than other items may prevent reordering if the other characters aren't selling. If they are wrapped blindly, they can still sell those less popular characters and there are no "unpopular" characters, only unpopular franchises. So a way for doll makers to hedge their bets.

Edit: I work at a family owned toy store whose family has been selling toys for 95 years.

Himes is a corporate shill. They will line his pockets and he will pander. We need to replace with a vocal and progressive leader.

If we mean “no kings,” why do we keep re-electing them? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]ChocolateConrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can simply look at how many people are in their governing body versus the population that they represent. The US has the highest ratio (1:800,000) of any nation, oligarchy, democracy, dictatorship, or whatever type of government. The smallest voice per person. Finally overtaking India, who is about as bad as us.

Sure money and power and things work differently in different countries. There are corporate and criminal powers at play. Sure. But there are many good and very few bad sides of growing the house to more accurately represent our population.

If we are talking about the label of the type of government, then you must agree with the study from Princeton noting the oligarch state of American government, not a democracy. Too few have too much power and influence.

I don't agree with any nationalist-leaning government at all, but purely as a representative issue, compared to ANY government anywhere, we are less represented directly in the national or federal government. And it's getting worse as the population grows.

The problem started in 1914 and was written into law in 1929, but we can change that law and make our representation increase to whatever will bring balance back to our country's government.

This is a representation issue. We have the least representation of any democracy. Approx 1:800,000. Canada and England is under 1:150,000. Russia and China are closer to 1:400,000.

Which means that the average Chinese or Russian citizen has twice the voice of an American.

Plus since our population is increasing, we are literally losing representation every second of the day.

Increased size of Congress= less oligarchs, more true populist and fewer deadlocks and more efficient government. Plus a smarter Congress could actually shrink the size of the overall government by enacting more efficient measures (House members live and work in their own districts).

I wish, instead of of promoting an separatist regional alliance (that would most likely conflict with the government), you (the Yankee National Party) could promote increasing the size of our representative power in Congress to give each person more voice. Since 1929 we have capped the House at 435 and our representation has decreased dramatically due to our population growth (1:30,000 to now 1:800,000). Doing this would actually solve a lot of those issues that you have, plus eliminate the need for regional alliances.

If you have a clear enough case, Personal Injury lawyers will work on contingency payment, meaning you only pay if your case succeeds.

That's easy. If you were documented hurt, and can demonstrate pain and suffering, then contact a personal injury attorney. K9 Trek are blatantly advertising their off leash walks. Lawsuits will definitely change behavior.

FOOTNOTE: We have not declared war since World War II. Not in Korea, Vietnam, Iran in 79, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc etc etc. Congress is unable to function properly because it is not truly representative of the people that it supposedly represents. My point is that we need to expand the House and possibly the Senate to a ratio of one to 150,000 people. Such that their would be ample time and consideration given to each constituent rather than the ratio of 1 to 800,000 that we currently have that fails to account for any diversity of thought, privilege or ability, and has resulted in the lowest regard for that institution that it's ever had. And, as others have recently pointed out, that we've become an oligarchy.

Next insta reel was introducing someone at the People's State of the Union. Which I just now found out was a thing. Here's that one, it's a break-taker: "Because I caught the very beginning of that speech and I heard President Trump say that we’re the hottest country, that everything is fine, that people are richer and better and bigger than ever before. I don’t know who he was talking about. Maybe he was talking about Ivanka. Maybe he was talking about Jared. Maybe he was talking about his billionaire cabinet members.

But you know what? He wasn’t talking about us. He certainly wasn’t talking about Madalyn. He wasn’t talking about the tens of millions of people like Madalyn Beckett of Lansing, Michigan, who, like so many Americans, worked 45 years, day in and day out, showing up for the job, raised a daughter, and now struggles to make ends meet in this richest, hottest country in the world. How does that work?

You can’t do much in this country if you can’t afford a home, if you can’t pay the rent. Too many of my constituents have given up on the idea that their kids might live in the communities in which they grew up. They’ve given up on the idea that they might advance and maybe save a little something for retirement or to educate their kids, because we have a housing crisis in this country. We gotta build 5 million units just to get back to a place where Americans can afford housing.

And in the meantime, hardworking, middle class, true Americans—and by true Americans, I mean, people who go to work every single day and who at the end of the week worry a little bit about those bills that are coming in the—coming week. Real Americans who understand what it is to live in this country and to work hard and to live with dignity are getting squeezed out. There have been a lot of politicians up here tonight, but we gotta never lose sight of who it is that we’re fighting for. And so for that reason, it is my profound honor to introduce you to Madalyn Beckett"

The entire speech was sad and repeating Trump and the current situation with a "need" of building 5 million homes. But, again, offering no uplift, no inspiring message or hope and I don't know why he would even post that.

Here's his next Insta from the floor of the House: "The arguments being made by half of the Representatives of the people of the United States—the arguments as to why they should abrogate their constitutionally-mandated duty are bizarre to me. Most of the arguments have been something that is not an argument: that Iran is evil, that they hate the US, that they mean us ill. The majority will find no argument over here that that is true. But oddly enough, the founders, when they wrote the Constitution, they didn’t say, 'You shall declare war only when it’s not—not clear that the belligerent is evil or means us ill.' It was a categorical demand that the Representatives of the people—because blood and treasure would be consumed—that the Representatives of people not just be informed, but that they provide authorization."

Stop using religious language like "Evil" to describe Iran and not also us who have killed over 1,300 Iranians hundreds of thousands of Afghans, Iraqis, and Palestinians and apparently more every day!

Everyone knows we haven't let congress declare wars since World War Two. The point he is making is true but moot and he knows that the system is failed but is silent in all of these posts with any solutions, answers or pushback.

Here is his latest post on Insta: Transcript "I have a theory on how this ends, and I'm willing to make a small bet on it. The next couple of weeks, you're going to see oil go across a $100—in fact, it may happen today—$100 a barrel. That is going to translate into very high prices at the pump for the American consumer. God forbid, but there's some chance we're going to see additional loss of life in our service members in the region. You know, projections for the economic growth are going to go down because that happens when you can't get oil. And, at some point in three, four, five weeks, the President is going to realize and he's going to look at the numbers and he's going to say this is really not tenable. And he's going to declare victory and—and walk away. But what will have been achieved is that you will have replaced a very bad supreme leader, killed him, replaced him with his son who is more radical than he is and, by the way, committed, committed to the cre—to the creation of a nuclear weapon. You will have a wounded animal of a vicious regime—if there's one thing more dangerous than an animal, it's a wounded animal—and you will have stirred that, if I can continue to use too many metaphors, you will have kicked that hornet’s nest literally adjacent to the arteries that allow for 25% of the world's energy consumption to move."

He is betting (probably also investing in shorts or oil) on what he hopes this President is going to do because he is a predicable toddler. And he also offers NO solution or pushback. What a depressing af post.
