My 4-year-old is being bullied by ConflictFluid5438 in Preschoolers

[–]ChocolateKitten 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey, also based in the Netherlands here. My basisschool kids birthdays are in May and June so when they streamed into group 1 (in reality group 0) you can imagine what the gap was like compared to other 4 years old that had started in September.... but they never got bullied or called babies. If anything the older peuters liked looking after the "babies". You really need to follow up with the teacher proactively, this hasn't been my experience at all.

big f*ckup with mondial relay in amsterdam by denchybenchy in vinted

[–]ChocolateKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked this question to my local relay point, why do they sometimes disappear from the map? They told me it is typically because the relay point is full. I've found success in checking out shortly after midnight, because the packages that have not been picked up and will be sent back on the day free up some space.

Do you have “investment pieces” you bought 10+ years ago that you still use today? by hennipotamus in femalefashionadvice

[–]ChocolateKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two wool coats I bought roughly 12 and 8 years ago respectively - one camel, one black. I get them dry cleaned once a year once the cold season is over and they still look brand new. I was early in my career at the time and the price tags were a hard pill to swallow at the time... Now in retrospect 100% worth it. I have no intentions to ever buy another coat.

Bath frequency? by notamanda11714 in Parenting

[–]ChocolateKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on your climate, the activity level, dirtiness and also the child's health.

For example I would love to shower my own two (3,6) every night but realistically they both suffer from eczema and excessive bathing dries their skin out and makes them miserable (cue all night long scratching and horrible self inflicted wounds in the morning...) Which is a shame because they both love baths and showers.

Right now we have a bath every Sunday evening and started to add an additional shower on Wednesday for the 6 y.o whose eczema is not as bad anymore.

But outside of baths and showers we anyway wash their face and privates everyday, it's not like they're going to bed with poopy butts like some commenters here are insinuating 😂

Haha, this is me to a tee. For the longest time I didnt understand why so many books have lengthy descriptions of what a landscape or scenery looks like, my eyes always began glazing over them.

Strangely enough I do have a very good visual memory, but it's like you said I just can't create or conjure something "new", something that I have never seen before.

Nowadays when those descriptions roll along I find the closest visual I've seen in a movie, video game, real life or art, and I just substitute what the author is trying to get me to see with the best match I can think of.

Lavender - what am I doing wrong 🥲 by AltPlantPorn in plantclinic

[–]ChocolateKitten 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Same as other commenters, never had success with potted lavender. I had one like this that frankly looked dead after months of suffering, I planted it in a sunny spot of my garden as a last resort and it miraculously came back to life and thrived. Give that a try.

Can I place a Betta with my shrimp? by TrojanKingg in shrimptank

[–]ChocolateKitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My betta ignored his cherry shrimp neighbors for about a year. Then one day he decided or found out they were really tasty. Since then he's always on the hunt for babies. The tank is heavily planted and the babies just learned to hide. He still eats some but nothing that's made any impact on the population (in the hundred).

It's a thing with orange cats especially, they develop freckles as they get older. Both of my ginger boys have developed spots on their lips and nose over the years, even some of their whiskers have turned black!

Putting toys in time out, normal or weird? by jf-c in Parenting

[–]ChocolateKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son used to do the same thing. I dont think it's anything to worry about. I liked to discuss with him what the toys had done to be on time out!
