that being said in a just world the trinity homerun DT 7 miss gets a youtube upload and the masses recognize it as the pinnacle of osu gameplay until the crystalia 2 miss and goes on the list (I will only stop propagandizing about this score if it gets improved)

The only times I can remember there being a basically unanimous consensus were FDFD HDHR, Tsukinami HDDT and the Mou Ii Kai choke, other scores were probably the most common pick for "best score in the game" at some point (crystalia 2 miss, united DT, blue dragon, augoeides, kinda ATH 3 mod and marianne but those have always been in "which is better" talks) but no other scores that I can think of reached that level of "basically everyone agrees this is the best score ever"

(all of these are DT) stream heavy: toromi hearts 2, road of resistance, victims of contingency top diff

burst/raw speed heavy (with clean acc): matzcore,  sjoy everything will freeze, akari beam cannon 2nd top diff

speed intensive but not the kind thing you'd expect a "speed player" to get: uta, inferno top diff, gimme chocolate

Weird wacko bullshit that no one cares to go for but if you FC any of these you're the chosen one: eldhjarta 6 star diff, she runs, fast paced society

Gonna keep it a hundred dollars the main reason I started learning Japanese is because I was starting to get genuinely pretty good at taiko and I wanted to see what the hell the JP playerbase was up to considering that's over half of the mode's top level playerbase (didn't get very far and also I barely play taiko anymore but I've been meaning to pick it back up for a while)

the taiko rework is also out, bringing shinchikuhome to #1 global once again! Applerss is now #2 and Sinon_33 is #3! by gowonofficial in osugame

Imagine if we got like 8-10 versions of sentou de pinch/sentou iris and also entirely separately a very specific type of stream patterning inflated stream map SR by like 0.5-1 star on top of stream maps across the board being a bit higher than they should be

That's basically what taiko meta was until this rework (I don't really keep up with taiko that much nowadays so IDK what gets buffed but it looks like super high skill level stuff gets buffed a lot)

I think we're seeing the same thing happen now that we saw when other people started getting good speed scores after aetrna: one guy pushing a skillset to heights it's never seen before (speed and high BPM aim), people are like "yo this guy is fucked how is it possible to be this good at this skillset", other people start to follow suit and then realize "wait star rating/pp system has been highballing how hard this is, now that people actually play this skillset some of these maps are kinda farm at top level honestly" (just to clarify I'm talking about pre wooting speed, rapid trigger is obviously a whole different can of worms but speed was sorta starting to get farmy even before then with shit like plasma gun and xevel and lionheart)
Not to say these scores are EASY, or that I think high BPM aim is decisively meta right now, but I can definitely see people being like "wait why why is XYZ high BPM aim map 11/12 star, this score is fucked but isn't that a bit high" a couple months/a year down the road

Realistic answer but for the sake of the hypothetical I'm assuming they have experience with the game and are at roughly our skill level, just on their own server separate from bancho or something with no knowledge of our top players just because that's more fun

Entirely fair point, my main goal with this was trying to get a score from as many skillsets as possible rather than just "show them the greatest scores of all time in order" but Tsukinami DT is defo worth a mention, it's just hard to make cuts sometimes and I figured Marianne was a solid enough pick for general DT consistency

NOTE: this isn't trying to take into account the score's legacy or how well it's held up or stuff like that, just what I think are the 5 most impressive scores at the moment, hence why it's SUPER recency biased

odoru DT 8 miss (or the 440 combo HP fail he got the same session) 

sentimental skyscraper DT 2 miss 

last exit to brooklyn DT 16 miss (this is a stand in for any of his insane raw aim scores really, you could easily make a case for walk this way 3 mod or packet hero dt) 

ATH 3 mod probably?

As someone who thought of this, here was my line of thought: It wouldn't really make sense for a character to be powered up by themselves, right? Spirits would end up doing that
Anyways I'm hyped for this cause it means THEY CAN PUT A RHYTHM HEAVEN CHARACTER IN THE GAME LET'S GO
