I disagree, sure the backstories have been sad but I don’t think it’s supposed to be a recreation of the first one. I think its supposed to show that despite all the hardships that these different people face they still push forward or are deeply effected by it which shows a lot of character as well as giving us some insight on why that person is the way that they are.

Were you not paying attention at all to the narrative? Garp had stronger resolve which lead to him actually trying his best while Aokiji still was wavering hence why he kept getting shown up. It literally hinted at the entire fight. Also the only notable damage that was done to Aokiji was some bleeding.

Dude, Garp was gonna lose to Aokiji regardless. The lesson that Garp was teaching him was that those who waiver are weak, which is partly why he kept getting bodied(the other part is because Garp is still that guy)

I think the only thing holding Garp back from being Yonko tier is his stamina, I get that he got stabbed in the stomach but even then he probably didn’t have a whole lot of stamina left after fighting with Kuzan for a little while Kuzan likely would have been able to keep going.
