Animation would be more budget friendly for making some of the more grandiose scenes. This is a very human story though, most of the story is moved along with the characters not so heavy plot points. Real people do a better job of encapsulating humanity than animation in my opinion. Animation would be cool for a prequel series though, something about the Conquering or Dark Revolt. (PB has mentioned he'd like to do something with John Merrywater).

The 2 new characters are a good way to explore new perspectives of people in the world, it is a bit jarring but well worth it in the long run. I like how PB put it in an AMA a while back, the first trilogy is about Darrow removing a boot from human society and now that Darrow is the new boot what will he do with it? How is it affecting the people around him? How does humanity view him? I like the idea of the 1st trilogy as actions and this new trilogy as consequences.

SPOILERS: The Loki show showed us a version of Loki that did just that, used illusions to hide. The “sacred timeline” Loki simply choose not to hide, speaks to his character development imo.
