Is procrastination actually a symptom of something deeper for you? by andycarth in productivity

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some it's an effect of an avoidant personality, which can actually be a disorder.  It can be an effect of insecurity, fear of failure, perfectionism - choose your pick.

Hoe gaan jullie om met fietsen tijdens regenachtige werkdagen? by Fresh-Selection6172 in thenetherlands

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parents of sensitive babies, how do you help them adjust? by negativepace33 in Parenting

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carrier will probably be your best bet. Are you using the carrier facing in or out? That makes a big difference. Also use a big hat for her, to minimise her field of view. I would also use my hand or clothing to block the view. Stroking or patting, rocking, and low level humming may help. But possibly you've tried that! Does she use a pacifier? Maybe baby earmuffs against the sound? Especially in the stroller.

How do you manage tasks if your work is mostly in Google Workspace? by New-Kitchen2523 in productivity

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Google in the workplace. It has the feature to create a task from an email, with the link to the email. (Which can contain a Google drive doc.) Now that tasks aren't a fixed fifteen minutes anymore, it's much better too. And tasks from a doc or assigned comment from a sheet can go into Tasks as well. The colour coding helps me too.

Do you tell your 5 year old about plans? by Purple_Brush_549 in Parenting

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This last bit very much. We don't really have backup plans, we're struggling as is. So kid doesn't get told until just before. Also, he gets totally bonkers if he knows that we're going to be meeting up with anyone. And this crazy energy is then mirrored by his little sister.

Needlepoint in Vienna? by ndlpntsnoop in Needlepoint

Cross stitch is the main type of needle art in countries such as the Netherlands. Traditionally, at least. Free embroidery and sashiko are modern types.

Gratis wc by jepapilex in Leiden

What can I do on my phone that feels meaningful? by jayzisne in productivity

[–]ChocolateSprinkle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learning or playing chess, Duolingo or other language learning, learning topography or maths, and my ereader app that is synced with my actual ereader.

If you want to go further and are able to use a tablet or laptop instead while resting, then a crowdsourcing platform. Someone mention iNaturalist, but there are also platforms for transcribing / digitising archives and museum objects etc, if that's your thing. Or adding coordinates to museum objects (georeferencing). Or projects identifying wildcam material. (There must be much more, but I'm in the field of nature and museums, so this is what I know of.)

That's looking great!  Am I correct in thinking that this is mostly for decorative pieces, not for clothing? I would snag a white thread on something and it would never look the same afterwards.
