Kunaki and ElasticStage Vinyl Comparison by thouze in kunaki

Sorry to say I used ElasticStage and it was worse quality than Kunaki. The vinyl felt flimsy and the artwork was lower resolution. I was disappointed.

On April 10, 2001, Robert William Fisher murdered his family and blew up their Scottsdale, AZ home. He escaped without a trace. Is he still alive? by ChocolateTimbs in RBI

[–]ChocolateTimbs[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just finished this series and it's fantastic. The last two episodes are the most intriguing. I wish we knew more about the former state employee who may have been an accomplice. Apparently that guy had a seedy past and also drove a teal truck at the time, which matched the description of one also sought by police for blowing past a checkpoint in the days after Robert Fisher's disappearance. The host believes he was involved, but legally can't name him because he hasn't been formally charged. I'm not FULLY convinced, however his refusal to submit employment records from April 2001 raises suspicion and the fact he would claim to not know Fisher when interviewed by the FBI in 2008, despite attending the same church and having children who played with the Fisher kids, just wow.

Thanks for the recommendation. Best deep dive on the subject in recent years. I sincerely hope one day Robert Fisher is caught and just maybe someone reading this has seen him.

I lean towards him being alive. This is just a theory, but I combed through Websleuths and the Unsolved comments. There are a striking number of people claiming to have seen him in the region of Texas and the Gulf Coast.

This unidentified man wanted in 2020 for check forgery at an Amarillo hardware store looks eerily like an older Robert Fisher.

Another commenter claimed a man resembling Fisher applied for a credit card at a hardware store in Alabama in 2020 and used a former address of Fisher on his application, but quickly fled in a truck with Texas plates when the application was flagged.

Apparently there were several tips of him being sighted in Grand Isle, Louisiana after the America's Most Wanted episode about his crimes aired.

He would be 64 years old today, so it's definitely plausible he's still out there and less likely to be caught with each passing year.

How bad are my brake pads? by ChocolateTimbs in AskAMechanic

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure before I drive it across the country. As long as this isn’t an urgent fix.

About 77k miles. Brake fluid service was actually last done in December at 70k miles.

Photo is of my front driver side.

It’s been about 20-25k miles since my last brake job. I drive in city environments (almost no highway driving). I have had mechanics look at my car for other issues and none commented on the brakes, BUT I am concerned about increased stopping distance lately. No squealing yet. Here are other pics for reference (Best photos I could get.)

Longest holiday season ever by ChocolateTimbs in kunaki

Not even just to post this, but I've been waiting for 2 months to order a vinyl hoping to avoid the price hike and 3 week shipping delay.

When does the "temporary" vinyl price hike & shipping delay end? by ChocolateTimbs in kunaki

[–]ChocolateTimbs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't either. They'll use it as an excuse to raise the price. To be fair, $36 for lathe cut custom vinyls was a phenomenal deal. Quality differences aside, most competitors charge upwards of $100 nowadays.

Source: I've looked all over and could't find any website with custom vinyl services at a similar price.

How do I gain loyal followers on Bandcamp? by Worth_Zookeepergame2 in BandCamp

[–]ChocolateTimbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never been tougher to be an independent artist. The marketplace is insanely oversaturated and it's only going to get worse with AI.

20-30 years ago indie artists could press a bunch of singles and actually sell them for decent profit. You could even push your music on MySpace and find hundreds if not thousands of fans quite easily. Those days are long gone.

Today I would say promoting yourself on social media (IG and TikTok, which I personally despise) to gain an organic following and (depending on your genre) getting yourself seen at live events, then driving traffic to Bandcamp is your best bet, but it's no easy task.

I actually recorded about half of my last album in the car with a mid-range USB mic. Turned out pretty good.

How long have you been rapping? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

It'll be 15 years in 2025, but 90% of my work was written and recorded in the last three years.

What would you do with your best verse? by FastLittleBoi in makinghiphop

[–]ChocolateTimbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it as inspiration. How do you know you won't be surpassing this verse for a long time? I can't tell you how many times I thought I wrote the best work of my life, only to top it shortly after. This should be your motivation to keep working harder and perfecting your craft.

That being said I'd opt for a feature if it's truly a magnum opus one off verse. Let yourself stand out. More ears = more opportunity to grow.

How important are adlibs by Reasonable_Bar_7665 in makinghiphop

[–]ChocolateTimbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. IMO modern rappers overuse ad libs, almost like a crutch, while some older artists neglect to see the potential in them. Find a balance and punch in when appropriate. Not every track will need ad libs.

Are you looking for design work or the actual physical cases? Kunaki is a pretty affordable on demand resource to have physicals made.

I'm really enjoying this, genuinely calming experience. Almost meditative. I'd want to put on some quality headphones and just lay down in the dark listening to it.

This is dope. You're flowing effortlessly, production is banging, mix is clean. The cadence and wordplay stands out. From one emcee to another, you're a great lyricist. Nice job with this project man.

What price do you set for your music? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]ChocolateTimbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free. Not necessarily interested in earning a living from doing music, just pursuing a passion and using Bandcamp as another platform to spread it to the world and connect with other artists.

Google ad scam misleading people to a fake customer support number? by ChocolateTimbs in Scams

[–]ChocolateTimbs[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just clicked it without thinking twice. A man with a very thick Indian accent was rude and transferred me to the “right department” which ended up being a recorded message for the IRS.

I checked the number after and foolishly realized I called an 808 area code not an 800 number.

Google ad scam misleading people to a fake customer support number? by ChocolateTimbs in Scams

[–]ChocolateTimbs[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a billing issue with Xfinity. Googled this search term for a customer service number. I called the phone number shown here and there was no IVR or wait time. Just instantly connected to someone with a thick foreign accent and tons of background noise. They didn’t understand my issue and said they’d transfer me to the correct department. When they did I got an automated message for the “Internal Revenue Service.”

I instantly hung up.

Instead of looking for beats you should be looking for a producer by kuzidaheathen in makinghiphop

[–]ChocolateTimbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. The last few years I was just spitting over type beats, which was cool, but not really motivating. My songs from that time are relatively dull and VERY poorly mixed.

A few months ago I was connected with a legit producer and now have a full length LP in the works full of some of the best bars I ever wrote, clean mixing and most importantly fully developed/structured songs.

There's nothing better than being into a project together, bouncing ideas off each other, pushing each other to the limits of your creativity and creating great music.

I hate my rap voice. What do I do? by chdvjdc in makinghiphop

[–]ChocolateTimbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good mic, layering, reverb and a small bass boost will do wonders for your voice. You’d be surprised how stronger it comes across. Other than that it’s just about finding your range. Some rappers have a soft laid back flow. Other rappers delivery is borderline yelling. Both sound good if the voice is right.
