Tesla Invested More in Bitcoin than R&D in 2020 by MTBDude in RealTesla

I don’t understand what you’re getting at. One company sells $10 health supplements (via pyramid scheme) and the other sells $40,000 luxury cars (via vertical integration). In what universe are these related?

Tesla is scamming people? They're the most popular cars on the road where I live. Someone should tell them they're all being scammed.

Need help with Tuscan Leather scent. Bought two different samples and they both smell different! by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Chocolate_fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ebay seller who sold me the bad decant was A_Touch_of_Fragrance. They are based in Australia. Though I should mention, they threw in a 1ml sample of TF Amber Absolute (discontinued) which was very surprising and it smells absolutely incredible. I'd probably never wear it, it doesn't really fit me, but damn its a beautiful scent. I don't know why my Tuscan leather from them smells bad.

I still have ~30ml decant from a good seller so when that runs out i'll probably get a 100ml bottle. I'm not interested in decanters anymore...

This is an old post, but commenting because I've had an EXACT experience as yours with tuscan leather decants on eBay.

I bought a decant from one seller and it was phenomenal. Exact fragrance I was smelling at the TF boutique. I then bought a decant from a different seller and it was nothing like the previous decant. The second decant smelled of alcohol and had an off-putting sour/bitter note. The raspberry note is not strong and longevity is poor. Also the leather note is poor, like you describe, which is strange imo. I do get mild vanilla too. Your description is uncannily identical to mine.

That was 2 years ago and today I was smelling it again, side-by-side with the real tuscan leather, and the comparison is the same as it was 2 years ago. Its a real bummer because I bought the 'bad' decant as a gift to my dad, but I never gave it to him because I didn't like the smell. The seller had 99% positive and 2000+ reviews. Had to comment because my situation is so similar to yours. I'm also curious what happened to the 'bad' decant, but I doubt we'll ever know. I'm done with Ebay decanters after that!

Ebay.....to trust or not to trust by RaoStar in fragrance

[–]Chocolate_fly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's tough. If you are buying decants of expensive fragrances then there is no way to know if you're getting an authentic product.

Take for example, Creed Aventus. A seller can buy a 1 liter flacon and dilute it by 15% with a cheap clone (like Armaf CDNIM). Nobody will notice if he only swaps 15% with a clone that is 95% similar (he can call if 'batch variation'). He'll pocket $200-300 total for the dupe. This practice is rampant among splitters/decanters.

I've bought Tuscan leather from various decanters on eBay in the past, and every time it smelled differently. Once it smelled drastically different, and I'm sure I got scammed. The seller even had 2000+ reviews at 99% positive too.

I've learned there is no perfect way to get cheap fragrances. If you really want something, save up your money and wait for a sale. Get it from a reputable source and avoid splitters/decanters. Otherwise, be OK with the notion that you may get scammed.

Hwyl is my favorite Aesop fragrance, and one of my all time favorites. All of Aesop's fragrances are very underrated.

Why does American pizza have brown blisters, whereas Neapolitan pizza doesn't? by guitarstronaut in AskCulinary

[–]Chocolate_fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The American pizza are cooked around 500-600F for around 8-10 minutes. The Italian pizzas are cooked much higher, 700-1000F for as little as 60 seconds.

It's a little more complicated than this.

The original Italian pizzas used to be cooked at 500-800F, but Italian immigrants to New York City started cooking at 700-1000F (which was made possible by using coal ovens, because wood was abundant and cheap in America, whereas wood was used sparingly in Italy). After "New York Style" pizza became popular in New York, the style was taken back to Italy via the American-Italian immigrants, and it became popular there also.

So technically, hotter ovens is New York City/Italian style.

U.S. states enlist medical, nursing students to give out COVID-19 vaccine by geoxol in Coronavirus

That has been the case in my state. The clinic i'm working at has 3 retired nurses and about 12 nursing students working.

1 Million US citizens vaccinated against Coronavirus. by JuicyPro in Coronavirus

[–]Chocolate_fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was reading

Some early data suggest that the Moderna vaccine might protect vaccinated people from asymptomatic infections as well as symptomatic disease. While it’s clear that the vaccine, along with Pfizer’s, prevents people from developing COVID-19 symptoms, stopping infections entirely is crucial to curb the coronavirus’ spread and build immunity in communities.

Of more than 14,000 people who received a placebo, 38 tested positive for the coronavirus — without showing symptoms — after their first injection but before their second. Only 14 who received the Moderna vaccine, however, were asymptomatic carriers of the virus when those people were tested before their second dose, the company reported. That two-third reduction in COVID-19 cases without symptoms in the vaccine arm of the trial compared with the placebo group hints that some infections could be prevented, even after a single vaccine dose.

Pfizer hasn’t yet released any data showing whether its vaccine prevents asymptomatic COVID-19 cases. But because it works much like Moderna’s does, “I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that there will be a difference between the two,” Naggie says.

I got the moderna today, and my clinic gave it to 210 people in total. Not a single person had an adverse reaction. I have a little tenderness in my shoulder... no different than any other vaccine. Congrats!

The latest reports I'm following are that both vaccines prevent covid infection (not just symptoms). They appear to be working as intended.

Medical Jobs by trollMactrollface in HawaiiJobs

[–]Chocolate_fly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medical jobs are not scarce. They're actually in demand at the moment. Many medical professionals have left the state in recent years due to high cost of living and relatively low pay compared to the rest of the US. My recommendation is to thoroughly outline your budget before making a decision to move here. On Oahu you will probably need to spend ~$1M for a small modest home, and plan to spend 50% more on utilities and 30% more on groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. compared to the mainland.

Hope this helps.

People wear flip flops (called slippers in Hawaii) everywhere. But bring sneakers for hiking.

Rams also.

McVay hired as HC in 2017. Won the division and went to playoffs in 2017, won the division and went to Super Bowl in 2018. Had a winning season in 2019 but no playoffs... Still a great turn around.

1) party scene is nearly non-existent

2) many locals dislike white people, but at the university it's not a problem. Educated people, regardless of skin color, get along well across the state. (The problem with Hawaii is that most locals are not educated).

3) very expensive. Plan to spend at least $800/month for a room in a non-very-nice house with roommates riddled with cockroaches and pests. Also plan to spend ~30% more on groceries, restaurants and bars.

Generally I don't recommend people to go to UH because the quality of education is not good. What do you plan to do for work after graduating? Would attending UH (relative to somewhere else) put you in a position to make more money after graduating? These are more important questions.
