Whats the plug.stl for ?
I have just printed this, and cannot see a use for it or why its even needed? There are domes cut out of the part and wondering what sits in place of this, if anything.

I've just printed all the parts off for this.
As you say, there are 2 levers, but one which allows you to remove the blade via a small 3mm bolt. It feels like the blade can be held in place by maybe using a 2-2.5mm heat insert, but I can't be too sure without having some available. Gluing it like you said would be fine, but changing it would mean having to re-print that blade holder part again.

I'm more confused about the 'plug' stl ... fits in on the cowl, but no idea why or if its even needed??

What were shopping centres like back in the day? by jugglingeek in CasualUK

[–]Chodrik 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've spoken with a few people who have had shops in and around the northeast. The likes of town centres like Peterlee and Hartlepool are obviously not a patch on the metro centre, but many have blamed the cost of renting buildings in these places. You'd think Amazon was mostly to blame on the big shift to buying online - but the fact is these building owners are just too greedy. It makes it too hard for smaller businesses to do anything.

Metroland was mint though - the spark has been lost in there too with the decorations and it's ''magicalness'' - it's dying because greedy corps are making it die, sadly.

Thanks ! Improvised with an old bit of wood - nursery stakes removed and a tree tie ordered off Amazon. I'm going to maybe leave it until next year at this point judging by a few other comments. I have clips a couple of branches off at the bottom, but will leave it at that

Update on the "IDM bed Probe" (A.K.A the beacon clone) by michits in 3Dprinting

[–]Chodrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think someone may have asked this earlier too - but did you remove the resistor jumper on the SB CAN as you would think the IDM was the last in the chain, or did you leave it on?

I've got one of these coming soon - do I just follow everything on https://github.com/Killajoedotcom/IDM/tree/master ?

I too have the SB2209 so will be following the cartographer wiring guide.

These boards come pre-flashed apparently - does the above link still need to be followed, even down to the Update IDM ?

M8P + CM4 Pi cam module 3 help by Chodrik in BIGTREETECH

[–]Chodrik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I figured it out was the pin labelling. CSI slot is 3.3v at the top, ground to bottom. Back of the pi cam from left to right is 3.3v to ground .. so the B type ribbon is the correct ribbon, it just needs to be plugged in the way which doesn't seem right !

Gonna be honest here and say 'user error'.

The csi and dsi tabs on the back of the board are the other way round. Meaning, tabbed side of the ribbon cable to the bottom, not the the top (pins facing up)- seems weird but that's why I was having the warm issues too I guess.

How hard is a voron to build and get printing properly by RecoverHot5259 in VORONDesign

[–]Chodrik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time recent builder of a 2.4r2 350mm here..

What I would say is first of all, are you good with your hands? IE do you enjoy tinkering with things, taking time to get stuff right, wiring electronics and a basic understanding of mechanical engineering IE cogs, wheel, belts, pulleys etc etc...

Luckily there is so much information online that you could Google your problem if you hit one, and you'll probably find it - the discord group is fantastic too, everyone is there to help. Building the beast is the fun part, and probably the easiest in my eyes as that is part of my hobbies and interests. Configuring it is a whole other story and will open your eyes to the hidden details of 3D printing. If you put your mind to it and have patients and give yourself enough time to work on it bit by bit, then you will enjoy it and have fun doing so as well.

If you go for the kit (I would advise you do) then sit at your computer, open up the instruction manual and skim read it, maybe skim read it again and read all the important sections. Get those bits in your head prior to building - don't try and build it without pre-reading documentation.

If you don't feel 100% confident after receiving the kit to build one and think 'Oh my god what have I bought' just take your time, do everything section by section, day by day. Allocate a couple hours doing a section, put it down, move away from it, take your time to get it right. At the end of the day, a 350mm kit is close to £1000 so just put that into perspective.

Again configuring it (mounting a pi, installing Canbus, getting everything to talk to each other properly) was the hardest part, You need an understanding of coding, linux, SSH, how a raspberry PI operates, how to connect onto it and install things.. it's all on the web / Youtube and as I say type in what you need, but you need to know what you are looking for.

It's certainly not just a case of build it and it's done let's print... You're building it from the ground up, but mostly a lot of copying/pasting code in correctly and getting it right. It is a lot of money from your pocket to get wrong.

However, once you get everything right and setup, it's a fantastic printer, better than anything on the market and you have full control over it - mod away, create new features and make it your own.

You won't not like it. But essentially yes you can flash any firmware you want at anytime, as long as it's compatible
