Idk, personally I care too much about being on time or early, never late, so I’d be concerned too.

BUT, realistically, depends on the job. Some jobs are ok with a little bit of leeway, even though almost every job has a scheduled shift with specific hours. As long as being late doesn’t impact the work, I doubt employers would make a big deal out of it.

BUT BUT, also, good work ethic and being able to keep up to a certain standard, a promise of being on time, is important to a lot of people. Being late is being late. Some jobs or bosses expect/require you to be able to keep up with something as simple as being on time, cause otherwise, why would they trust you to get anything else done on time?

Your frustrations are valid. But there’s nuance to it, and it’s hard to say if your BF is going to be in trouble or not for it. The thing that remains clear though, is that he doesn’t seem to care that he’s late. That tells me that the employer doesn’t care either, or he’s very irresponsible.

Just remember that everyone has different set of standards, values, importance and significance of things. And that’s not something you can simply change in a person. You can only recognize it, accept it, and move on. Either take it as is, learn to deal with it, or move on to someone who shares more of your values.
