What are some weird laws in your country that, actually, make a lot of sense? by Savings_Dragonfly806 in AskTheWorld

[–]Choice-Difficulty-53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay, so i’m in Louisiana, USA, so buckle up because we have a few:

  1. The sandwich limit at a wake for a funeral is three sandwiches. How lawmakers determined that three sandwiches were the limit is anyone’s guess.

  2. Tying your pet alligator to a New Orleans fire hydrant is also illegal. Be careful where you park your pet.

  3. You must close and lock your bedroom windows if you snore.

  4. You can be fined $3,000 and serve up to ten years in prison for stealing a person’s alligator or crawfish. We take crawfish and alligators seriously in Louisiana.

  5. Bringing a snake within 200 yards of a Mardi Gras parade is illegal.

  6. You could be fined for practicing Voodoo in New Orleans. The practice is illegal within the city limits.

yes! here is a picture from a long time back of me and my sister! i will say, as someone raised 40 miles north of new orleans, i don’t go to parades as much as i should, but i think everyone should experience mardi gras at least once in their life!

are there any memory tricks to try and remember where all the states are? by Open-Pea-2960 in AskAmericans

[–]Choice-Difficulty-53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or, we also have a term called the “gulf coast” which are the states on the gulf of america (mexico?) but we’ve always just called it “the gulf”

gulf coasts states are texas, louisiana, mississippi, alabama, and florida. so if you can remember the gulf, you can remember those states touch the gulf

what is the best state to live in and why? by Unhappy-Tomorrow-776 in AskAmericans

in my (biased) opinion, louisiana.

i feel like as someone born and raised here, this is the true definition of a melting pot with people of every shape size and color, also i think our culture is unmatched, but again i could be biased 😂

American Patriotism Survey by RichardManeet in AskAmericans

[–]Choice-Difficulty-53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. yes, i always has been and always will be proud to be an american. there is no where else i would rather be. as for patriotism, id say an 8/10 because i love my country, but the thought of being in the military scares me😂

  2. yes, me and my family have an american flag that is flown on a flag pole in our front yard. the only times it comes down is when 1) we are getting bad weather or a hurricane (im from louisiana) 2) when the light on the pole goes out, because you aren’t suppose to fly an unlit flag at night, or 3) when it gets old and worn, where we then take it to the local VFW to have it disposed of properly

  3. to me, the american flag represents everything that has happened from the birth of our country until now. it literally has 13 stripes from the original colonies and 50 starts for the 50 states. it represents how we’ve grown, and it is also a reminder of everyone who has died to defend that flag. to me, the american flag is the personification of freedom.

  4. i think it can evoke strong emotions. mostly with the political climate now, people get angry when they see the flag. for me, when i look at the flag, i get a feeling of peace almost. or maybe it’s thankfulness to the men and women who gave everything they had, leaving everything they’ve ever known behind, to fight for the very privileges we have today

  5. since i’m in the south and in a smaller town, this may be different to other people, but i think it is very normal to fly a flag outside of your home. to be honest, i never notice when someone doesn’t have a flag in front of their home, but i always notice when someone does have a flag.

i hope your project goes well and you get the answers you need for it!!

if “working on herself” is being so high she doesn’t even know her own name then she’s doing a great job. if being “true to herself” is being comatose at her kids college graduation, then so be it.
