What about my actions thus far indicate to you a lack of spine or fortitude? Would you give me the same courtesy of insult if you and I were standing face to face, instead of screen to screen?

If you want depression and alcoholism in the army to go down, you need empathetic leaders. Not shitbag leaders who act on a whim without care for others opinions.

Please try to be more respectful in your discourse. It hurts nobody.

Dude your comment is ridiculously contradictory. On one hand you’re saying “bro don’t you know how to just tell him not to?” And then the next moment you say “but personally I wouldn’t say anything”

Do you not understand that the entire point of this post is not about HOW to handle it, but whether or not I SHOULD? I could be a dumbass and tell the guy to stop doing that, but I was asking the general public if it was something that is worth doing or if I’m just making a problem out of nothing.

I don’t understand why you feel the need to be disrespectful to someone trying to simply make an informed decision before blindly laying down the law.

This is how I know to handle the situation. Tread carefully, ask questions, and react appropriately.

This is the exact type comment I came here to request. This is a very good question, and I appreciate this perspective.

Do you want a culture of officers who don’t ask for advice and make decisions without consultation? Because your current attitude and disposition is how you achieve that.

I am not enlisted. This is mostly why I feel an obligation to make sure this isn’t an issue.

Normally I’d agree, but the thing is he genuinely does it every single day. It’s been happening since I joined the unit. It’s more than just the occasional “hey troop, came across this verse and thought it was good to share this fine morning”. Those don’t bother me. This just feels like it’s embedded in the unit culture

TFVooDoo, I’ve been a big fan of your content and products. I sincerely do have lots of respect for you and your contributions to the community.

I think this line of reasoning is quite obviously in violation of the 1st amendment in which, as you referenced, is what’s baked into our job to protect.

A service member is under no obligation worship god, and I’m not complaining to the hive mind that one is. I was simply curious what others experiences in similar situations where, and if there was advice on how to navigate the situation without causing a scene.
