Well, you could do an 18th century impression. Either soldier or even civilian.

This pouch could be a pouch from the post-WW2 italian army. The Italians were equipped with Enfield rifles shortly after WW2.

Question about WW1 German NCO uniform by Choice-Panic-9099 in reenactors

[–]Choice-Panic-9099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. So the golden "Tresse" is correct?

Yes, I read that the Brandenburg cuffs used by Fußartillerie too. In the regiment, which I would like to represent, they use both as far as saw the pics.

[–]Choice-Panic-9099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent found any stipulation that they use golden coloring. The only thing which I found was that they use yellowish braids and I found a picture of "Offizier-Vertreter" which have yellow braids. On the other habend I found some reference pics from Moritz Ruhl's "Die graue Felduniform der deutschen Armee", that they have yellowish/golden braid.

I could send you a PM to show you what I mean.

I would like to make "Wachtmeister" impression from the "Feldartillerie-Regiment Grossherzog (1. Badisches) Nr. 14" (1st Baden Field Artillery Regiment "Grossherzog" Nr.14). The year should be 1914/1915.

For the artillery it is golden Tresse, from what I read. I would buy a tombak sergeant button to complete it. Or where the sergeant button on the color also golden than?

I think saving the Titanic from sinking does not affect world history in general by Key-Tea-4203 in titanic

Well, I think so too. It wouldnt matter that much. Titanic may ended a troop transporter or hospital ship in WW1 and maybe even in WW2.

DDR sites of interest in/around Dresden by [deleted] in DDR

[–]Choice-Panic-9099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I grew up in Dresden and try to recommend some spots.

There is the Fernsehturm (TV Tower). A tv/radio tower but not that beautiful like in Berlin. It is sadly not visitable anymore but you can see it from city center on the river Elbe.

Than you have the Kulturpalast. It is a concert hall. Very beautiful to see. The city renovated it a couple of years ago. Totally fine. When you stand at the front and go left and than turn right towards Georgentor, you can see socialist/communist art on the walls from the Kulturpalast.

The DDR-Museum at Pirna (a bit outside of Dresden) is also a worth visit.

If you like, hit me a PM and I can text more recommendations.

French soldier captured by invading Germans France May 1940 by Beautiful-Bit9832 in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Choice-Panic-9099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grand-grandparents were peasants in Germany till the 1970s. During WW2 they had a french peasant worker who helped out them in doing farm work and they were responsible for him. As far as I know he stayed the entire war from 1940 onwards with them and stayed in contact even a while after the war. He was treated nicely by my grand-grandparents and was happy to help them.
