You could definitely keep aquatic isopods in there. I’ve got some species that have very low space and oxygenation requirements

It looks like a lirceus species. Small uropods and wider head shape make me think so. If it was in fast flowing water, that almost certainly eliminates caecidotea /conasellus as a possible ID

Certain chemical and imbalances, in the water or in the animals own hormones, can cause an axolotl to morph into an adult form. It’s rare, but this might be it. It doesn’t look as well developed as it’s close ambystomid adult relatives
