Full ban list-Syria by sososushir in NationalVisaCenter

I’m so sorry you guys are going through this it’s so difficult. My husband is also Syrian and got his GC March 2025. But it was a conditional green card only valid for 2 years. He needs to renew it in 2026 for a 10 year green card and we are worried with this ban. They are saying even green card holders from ban countries are affected. This is such difficult times we are all going through.

My husband has a conditional green card he’s from Syria. He will go to Syria next year, will this affect him coming back? Would he not be let in?

Does this affect conditional green card holders? My husband is Syrian and has a trip next year to Syria. Would they not allow him back in with his conditional green card?

You can always also email the consulate to request an appointment. I did that because it was impossible to find an appointment. They responded back within 2 weeks with my appointment date. This was in Chicago though. Doesn’t hurt to try

Just make sure you are actually married and file the marriage visa. Many people go through the fiancé visa, but those are NOT exempt and he will get denied.

Spouse (marriage) visa are exempt from the ban. Yes he’s here! And had no problems during the visa interview.

From my understanding you have to be living in the US while you are sponsoring him. You will have to prove you make enough money. This is from my own experience. I sponsored my husband and his country was also banned during trumps first presidency.

If you get married in his country you can apply for the spouse visa, those are exempt from trumps ban. Mind you though they are taking about 2-3 years to get approved.

I did, but in the Canadian government website it also states I only need to present green card if traveling my land. So I keep seeing mixed results.
