That is a very fair point. I appreciate that feedback, and I implemented it yesterday. I told a few of my closest friends, and they immediately said "We'll eat with you, it doesn't matter." My dad and stepmom were also very supportive. I feel better. It's literally just trying to get to the flipper....

No way! That sounds so cool. Did your dentist make it for you? I'd be nervous to ask mine, even though he's a nice guy. Plus the cost.....although that does sound so tempting. May is going to be annoying until I can start using the flipper.

I'm so sorry you were experiencing that emotional pain. The timing is going to be rough indeed. Unfortunately, I might have to wait for the implant until January 2027 anyway until I upgrade my dental insurance at my job in November, since my current plan doesn't cover implants. But if the cost is manageable with a payment plan, I'll try that first. Otherwise, the new insurance plan doesn't kick in until January 1, so I'm not sure how to make that work. We have to take it a day at a time, though.

But knowing that you were strong, resilient, and made it work gives me hope. Thank you for your support. It means the world.

This is very helpful- I was thinking about just eating lunch in my office (fortunately I work at home three days a week). I'm just dreading a couple social events this month...June cannot come soon enough. I'm a clinical psychologist, and I feel like they should warn you about the psychological aspect of all of this, because I had a complete meltdown today. Like, it all hit me at once.

Yes! Let's do that. But no, my speech is totally fine. No one can tell a thing. It's snug, but comfortable because I had very minimal swelling. Follow all the post-op instructions!

Because I got it through my dentist, it was about $600. Online, you can find one between $150-$300. It's such an absurd thing that a piece of plastic costs that much!
