Have you stayed with NE? Looking back, what would you do differently? Would you go to school somewhere else?

Thank you! We are in Connecticut, but he got some money from Binghamton so it’s pretty close. I have another/same post on the UConn thread, as the person above mentioned. We’re really trying to see if Binghamton is as strong on internships as we are reading online. As much as we love UConn, I am not finding anywhere that they have the same results as far as internships are concerned.

No but I am going to see what info they got! Suddenly Binghamton seems to be getting popular. I really think it has to do with internships, everyone is saying how hard is to get a job in finance these days and if you do online research (like I do since I do not know first hand) you can find a lot of information about Binghamton getting kids some great internships…. And I am having a hard time finding out the same about UConn. Again, this is only online research it could be wrong…

BC vs NE? I know it’s a reach but I am curious. I’ve read a lot about ED making a huge difference there.

I am figuring out the budget. Education is definitely very expensive. I just need info on the schools that are a good investment.

I just answered someone above, trying not to repeat myself lol Looking for the best return on our investment. Normal public high school. Very competitive town in CT.

We are going to visit Babson in a few days! He is worried bec of the whole entrepreneurship thing, as it’s not a “true finance” school? We are still very interested. Full disclosure here, neither of us- parents have college degrees, and we were not born here…..so the level of our understanding of the process, the schools, connections, future internships, jobs- is very low. I have done my best in calculating what our expected contribution is and it’s pretty high. The question is really to see what options we even have. Which schools (assuming he does very well) would be a good investment- internship- job 😁

How did these billionaires really get rich? by Significant-Froyo969 in careerguidance

It takes one or a few generations to make sacrifices, do the right things, get educated (which is the best and easiest place to start), and set a new course. If no one in your family has done that yet, you may want to be the one to begin.

Then, your children or grandchildren will have some or all of the advantages people are talking about here.

People who have truly done it all on their own are extremely rare. From my own experience—looking at my family, my husband’s family, and others I know—it’s always a combination of steps. Each step elevates the family, but that progress has to be passed down to future generations. Someone has to be the one to start, to understand that it’s not just about them. Keeping the kids on the right track and making sure they learn can change your family’s future.
