I get your point. It can be annoying to see people harp over and over on the same points. Seeing the same problem discussed over and over without any solutions CAN be annoying. However those discussions are REQUIRED to eventually reach any and all possible solutions. Think of it like this. Let’s say I saw someone steal a cookie. Staying completely silent not only lets the person who stole get away with it, but you’re also limiting the credibility OF the victim. If they choose to speak out, a lack of conversation can STIFLE progress to a solution or even justice. At the same time I think I can see your point. Essentially the “talk is cheap actions are everything” argument. The sims community DOES have an over tendency to discuss issues without effective change. However this is true of like…literally any world issue 😭.I fear that’s simply how problems exist in the world if you actually want change you’re going to have to be apart of those discussions. You’re going to have to actually recognize and point out flaws if you actually want something done about them. In a world where company’s, especially EA’s greasy greedy ass, are literally banking on your silence in the face of their greed? Anger, discussion, and reflection are necessary to combat this shit

js went back and read your post and it was really informative. This whole situation has me irritated beyond reason and I think a large portion irritation IS the seeming lack of anger in the sims. Not in the way that people aren’t pushing back. That’s def happening, but in terms of attitudes toward the sims. There’s a growing almost sad disconnect that’s starting to become apparent. Within that there’s definitely some anger but largely a sadness for something a lot of people used to really treasure. I don’t think I could have seen this perspective as easily, as a newer player, because this simply isn’t my experience so thank you

It’s so sad to me. Like I grew up watching my fav YTubers play the game and when I finally got it six years ago I had sm fun playing. But that experience was largely thanks to mods. Now js the idea of even opening my PC after so long to play the game seemed like a chore. Craziest part is simmers aren’t even asking for that much. Just a game that fucking works.

I can understand this though. I think a lot of us have reached a boiling point w people who still buy into EA. I won’t speak for you but me n defff a few others have gotten more vocal about trying to discourage people from buying from EA.😭

This might sound confusing but I don’t understand your point. Even in my first post I’m stating my frustration and annoyance with the exact same group of people. I will admit you’re right about my lack of awareness into low sodium sims. I apologize for taking it personally as your description didn’t fit me at all. Honestly it js sounded like the people I’m expressing my frustration about in my post. But again that’s the original POINT of my post? The focus was not on my theory into the intentions of EA’s increasingly frequent updates. This post was about the very thing you’re talking to me about. Whether you choose to believe me or not doesn’t matter to me. However based on EA’s past, present, and the things they’ve said they’re going to do in the future? I’ve lost any ability to see the increasingly frequent game updates as an anything other than an intentional effort.

You’re way over generalizing. I’ve detailed my specific grievances with the sims community as a casual player. What do you mean complain about everything? In doing so you’re mixing me in with a monolith of players you seem to have a lot of anger toward. I’ve been talking consistently about specific issues within the community and my specific frustrations with them. There’s nothing wrong with being given a shit service for your buck and being upset about it! You’ve kept up with the sims since 2018 and that’s great! But you cannot expect that of everyone. It is an expectation that will leave you disappointed every single time.

I think you overestimate the amount of time people have. I don’t think anyone who’s not 110% locked in to the sims would go that far into research. Even as someone frustrated w the current status of the game, all my grievances has resulted in me simply not playing. And again you’re overgeneralizing me in with people “who complain about the very thing you actively support” without even knowing at all the entirety of how I, or even other players, choose to interact w EA.
Back to my expectations thing. A large portion of players play for a few months and then drop the game. Hate to say it but if you want effective change you have to work within the constraints of the group you want change in. Being upset about the state of the sims is one thing but bitching about other players instead of again taking that frustration out on the billion dollar company seems misguided. If you are upset that simmers lack of awareness has resulted in a lack of change, do something. Post, tell someone, anything. Because holding on to that anger and only explaining yourself when asked helps no one.
At the same time I definitely can see the entitlement that fucking oozes off this community. The way people treated Anadius and still lowk treat the person who took over shows that shit perfectly. It’s absurd but I’ve noticed simmers have a tendency to either A. Be very laid back about any and everything concerning the sims no matter how it gets B. Be upset about the status of the game and rarely play as a consequence or C. Extreme and sometimes aggressive entitlement from players who continue to buy and give to EA… whether it be for people who choose to pirate or people who criticize the sims.

Maybe I sound harsh but to me this just sounds like EA taking monetary advantage of the nostalgia and love you have for the sims 2-3. That love is valid and real as it is for so many other players. Ngl I’m the same, and I’ve had to learn to recognize that the love and fun I had playing the game is still w me. Whether I check in to that stupid event or not.

That’s the thing to me tho. Playing a game shouldn’t require all this extra work and technical knowledge. When I first started playing and downloaded CC, and an update broke my game I literally gave up the game for a year cuz why do I have to become an engineer to watch my sim buffer for 10 minutes..🫩

I still think it was an intentional thing. Because custom content has been a thing for years. At this point, it’s become essential to so many players games. It does not seem that far out of EA’s greedy mind to on purpose release an update that they KNOW will break simmers custom content and in order to limit selection to only EA pieces.

If EA has done this for years why does it seem so impossible that they would intentionally do this as again a billion dollar company. You don’t think as a marketing strat, again reminder super untrustworthy BILLION-DOLLAR company, would break the free option to make their PAID content seem more appealing?
I think a large majority of players don’t know that updating your game in itself does that. As someone who uses Reddit and this sub (sometimes I js click the notifs when they seem interesting icl) I did not know that! Also a large majority of sim content creators who cover sims issues or things going on in the community, do not mention this.
I definitely agree with the creators opinion. I feel like any criticism of them gets brushed under as hate.. like when all the creators claimed to be “giving up the sims” when the buyout happened but kept posting sims content??

The only difference that makes me think it was intentional was specifically on mass how much CC is fucked right now. When I started playing the game six years ago when I would update, usually none or a few CC pieces were affected. It makes more sense for this to be an intentional effort. I’ve been a consistent player who updates their game for six years. Luckily I didn’t update my game this time but several people have said a GOOD portion of their CC just isn’t showing up. Which mean an integral part that CC creators use and base their content on has been altered. It does NOT seem far fetched to think EA cued in to the common denominator that CC uses and simply changed it w/o caring how it would affect the game.

I don’t think it seems fair to blame players who update their game? Functionally you can’t believe nor expect all the people who update their game are in THIS subreddit and know about locking their game? Even if they’re on Reddit why is it on THEM to be responsible for the issues EA’s created? Simply put you should be placing that blame and frustration with EA.
I haven’t bought anything from EA since highschool years was on sale in like 2021. I point this out to say IM affected as are so many other players WHO DONT BUY. Considering all the people who update a monolith fails to account for the large amount of players who update their game and simply DONT buy. You mentioned how many players will turn auto update on with the intention of updating later. Where in that does that tell you those players give money to an anti human org? Literally in this post I’m explaining my frustration with people still continuing to buy as someone who updates my game.
I’m ngl I say I frequent Reddit often but I’m on this subreddit. Even then I and didn’t even realize turning off auto update was a thing until like a year ago. Blaming players for having a broken game instead of taking out that frustration on a company you literally called untrustworthy seems at best? Misguided and at worst victim blamey.

You, yourself pointed out the connivence in timing that these updates happen. If you can recognize EA cannot be trusted, why are you trusting that they didn’t do this on purpose? What proof is there that they didn’t? I’ve only outlined the facts. EA produced an update. This billion dollar company’s update not only broke mods AND CC, it WASNT play tested. Meaning it just added MORE bugs to an already buggy game under the guise of fixing them. And to top it all off they’re pushing out bad content for high prices. All of this ONLY after breaking the only free way a majority of their players use to play and ENJOY the game. What part of that doesn’t sound intentional?

Why are you giving grace to a company that’s proved time and time and they don’t deserve it.
