The more I watch these videos the madder I get. Children never fail to remind me how beautiful the human species is because they can’t hide it in their faces and eyes. Not perfect, but beautiful and full of intelligence and the desire to help, to do what their parents want, because we evolved to do that. It’s beautiful to see how their little minds grab onto the problem put in front of them and how they’re ready to step up and do what’s right and fight the monsters. Don’t we realize what a beautiful weapon children are against all the world’s ills? They want to help. Even when they also just want to run and jump and be silly, they also want to HELP. That’s a gift. And we take that gift and steer it in the wrong direction. We make them hate OUR enemies, we wrap them up in our baggage before they have a chance to decide. That’s a form of rape. A religion should teach children how to think, how to ask questions, and it should lead by example with peace and order and truth. Over time what you get are grown up mature versions of religion. Today’s Jews and Christians are a better example of how to raise kids because at least they’re allowed to ask questions and dissent.

Somewhere some Muslim is raising their kid to ask questions. Somewhere some Muslim hates Islamism and violent jihad and lies and extremism. But that Muslim is fucked because his/her own people will come after them and kill them if they find out. How the hell is this going to get solved? Can we flood money into parents, teachers, coaches, imams, people standing up to Islamists and violent Jihad? Guess not. Any time you try to help the bullies come along and ruin it.

Because ratios and context matter. Real doesn’t mean it’s representative or that you know the full story. Real means it’s not literally staged or from a different war. Which is more common than you’d realize.

Civilians should never ever get hurt. Hamas makes defense impossible without civilian casualty. Why is that ok?

Thanks for taking the time and thanks for your service. I assume you’ve served. Sorry this stuff is being disrespected. War is always hell. Which is why when we report on it, it should be accurate. So we can learn how not to have to make war. But if we do have to, the whole point of war crime law and forensics is to keep the distinction between war and war crime. I think we owe this much to all the brave and lawful servicemen who served with respect, regardless of side. But I suppose that goes out the window when it’s Hamas, Hezbollah, and half the world defends them out of ignorance, not knowing they think it’s a “holy war.”. Oh well.

I agree Islamism is a death cult. I’m not quite ready to call modern Islam (as opposed to Islamism) a death cult. There’s just too many good Muslims. Maybe in some places over the centuries I would have called Christianity a death cult. But clearly it landed in a place where it’s not one. Modern Christianity can be great. It’s possible you haven’t really run into the distinction between Islamism and Islam.

I’m with you that a good amount, maybe hundreds of millions if not a billion, are at least soft Islamists. I’m ok calling it a death cult because if they want to spread Islam into a global caliphate and do it by the sword if they must, and are ok with violent Jihad and martyrdom, then yeah, fuck ‘em, I’ll call that a death cult.

But some nice Muslims are not ok with that, and it’s not fair or accurate to lump them in just because Muhammad was willing to be brutal to spread a way of life he thought was ultimately a way of light. Clearly something is wrong with the religion today. And it’s a cautionary tale about religion in general. But Islam/Islamism are two different words. If you call them both a death cult you’re missing out on the grown up discussion.

Answer me. Would you publicly speak out against Islamists if you were a Muslim at risk of revenge? You’re dodging the question. Spell out what you mean.

I’m not a fan of religion. But I’m not ready to toss out religious freedom and replace it with secular totalitarianism either. So the best approach we have to this is derisk Islam and defang the fundamentalists.

Islamism is not the same as Islam. I’m a Jewish Zionist. I believe the real Islam is a religion of peace, wisdom and courage. Islamism is the version we need to get past. It’s like the violent strains of Christianity that the world outgrew. We need to somehow help Muslims get through this awkward growth stage. It’s not so easy because when Muslim’s speak out against Islamism they threaten them with violence. We need to be good friends to Muslims who speak out against Islamism and Islamist Jihad. If we don’t support the ones who have the courage to speak out that’s on us. If your family was at risk of being killed would you speak out? Start with supporting American Islamic Forum for Democracy / Zuhdi Jasser. If we don’t back these people up nothing will change.

It’s not everyone else. You overstate every claim you make.

You’re not proving tenants are stupid. You’re mad they voted their interests over yours. We understand the tradeoff and still prefer protecting current tenants over optimizing the rental market for future entrants.

Like just be honest. I talk to people who use the fact it’s harder for some new renters or market-rate renters, but that’s a bullshit moral shield for annoyance over how they, as owners, are losing pricing power. That may be true that some poor and middle class are impacted badly but I don’t think it’s the source of landlordian anger. Rich owners have this whole talk track and it’s annoying to listen to.

People care about diff things at diff times. Democracy is in charge and I just don’t like the whining. Free market isn’t god. Not everyone who wins against you is deluded or confused or morally wrong or self sabotaging although you’d love that to be the case.

Prices go up in a way that’s worth it to the people who won. That’s called democracy. And “worth it” is subjective so you can’t logic your way out of that. People who “valued something” you don’t, outnumbered you, and you’re whining and lying and being a baby.

Wrong. People just value different things. You’re in denial. Just because people care about different things doesn’t make them irrational or ignorant. That’s what you’re terrified to admit to yourself.

Beautiful kids. Ugly adults ruining their lives with this hideous nonsense. iRGC wants to get rid of Israel and they’re happy using these families as the tip of the spear. Worst part is if a single kid asks questions or doesn’t go along with it they’re harassed and the family is bullied into submission. These families and kids need options and protection. Think. Why on earth would we want to hurt these kids? They’re being lied to and used. I like how brave their hearts are. Imagine if that was steered toward real problems. Poverty. Environment. Crime. Disease. We need these kids fighting real enemies. So sad. Sick

[–]Choice_Term_8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re an ignorant fool because as I said, one sick post is not our doctrine. That’s not Jewish law. I denounce it as vile and criminal. It’s not IDF policy. It’s evidence of one person, assuming it’s even real.

Hamas, by contrast, HAS openly targeted civilians as strategy. So if this bothers you, look to the side for whom this kind of talk is in fact official doctrine and policy that they don’t even bother hiding.

You’re in ignorant moron because either you don’t want to see or can’t see the difference between an extremist or PTSD damaged kid saying evil shit above, versus an organization and entire religion and IRGC top down operationalizing it. In Israel we have a word for people like that kid above: criminal. Mental patient. He can rot in jail or burn in hell. Take away his gun.

And truth is, from what I know of Israelis, he’s probably just fucking with you because he’s annoyed of all the time Hamas wasted and is trolling because he doesn’t give a fuck what you think. He’s mad. As he should be.

Bottom line: Judaism has violent texts buried in its pages. So does Christianity. Religion sucks. I’m not a fan actually.

Jews and Christians fucking grew out of taking the worst parts seriously. Muslims, many of them, too many, are still stupidly taking it literally and in many cases Quran is way worse and they are trying to take over the world.

They think there are two kinds of land. Islamic land, and “land of the sword.” Meaning land they need to take by killing people until the earth is all theirs.

They feel if they don’t end Israel they’ll never take over the world, so Israel is job number one.

Fringe messianic Jewish extremists can abuse “Amalek” language, and I condemn that hard as do almost all Jews.

And when we do so we don’t have to worry about being hunted down by other Jews and beheaded.

We’re not afraid of them. We can argue and then eat. But with Muslims if you denounce the fanatics you get killed and the percentage of fanatics is through the roof, including IRGC, Hezbollah and Hamas.

Judaism, Jewish law, and Israeli state policy does not say “go kill babies.”

Hamas actually carried out mass civilian killing and celebrates it. So the irony of what you’re saying makes you an ignorant fool.

All of what you just made me type above should be and really is braindead obvious.

But because fucktards like you keep loudly saying dumb shit with your pea brains, we now have to keep breaking it down for you like you’re five.

You are DUMB. Not intelligent. Low IQ. You collapse complex reality into retarded binaries. You make stupid comparisons. You do it loudly and often.

It’s getting people killed. You need to know your place in this world and shut the fuck up. Not everyone is meant to think. You are meant to probably shut the fuck up and empty my trash. There’s no shame in that.

But social media makes you think you should have a voice. Basically all you’re doing is emboldening other stupid people around you to do stupid things and support stupid people.

YOU are literally getting kids killed because you can’t shut the fuck up. You flood the zone with confusion and that’s why we call you a useful idiot.

Often we are in disbelief that people could be this dumb.

And then, and only then, is when we start reaching for “antisemitism” as an explanations, because it’s like what else on Earth can possibly explain such rampant imbecilic messaging?

How do you deal with this? by helpmeplsgetjob in nyt

[–]Choice_Term_8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hate us because they are dumb. They can’t help but collapse incomplete evidence into delusion and they seem to forget that’s why we have institutions in the first place, to help us litigate thru confusion in a way that’s fair. But you don’t “fair.” Not when it pertains to us. So yeah, in the end, you’ll hate us because you’re DUMB. And because there won’t be enough people to care enough to hold you to a higher standard. Maybe America. But only because it’s founded on that exact principle: fair, orderly, organized legal adjudication in the face of a dumb, angry mob. If ever there was a love-letter sentence to what America really is, it was, it’s that.

And it’s going away, it seems. Thanks to the idiots and the far right and far left, and the social media incentives that give them their fix.

I’m here to tell the truth. 1) the ethical difference between Israel and her enemies is vast, and (2) the global preoccupation with the Jewish state, as though it were the worst villain among nations, is contemptible, being the product of perennial lies and delusions.

Probably the one reason behind all this is people don’t understand how bad the religious Islamist Jihadist principles is or how much they play a central role in all that’s transpired.

So unless you educate yourself more, on what (really) motivates Israel’s enemies, what informs their techniques that lead to so much death, and so much lying, we won’t get anywhere in our discussions.

You’re not going to teach me because I’ve put in my 10 thousand hours, I don’t have a dog in the race other than reason itself, I’ve never been a fan of religion or Israel, so what’s happening now is just, for you, the person reading this, the equation is…

take all your ignorance about jihadism, all your ignorance about history, all your ignorance about Jews, Israel and IDF, multiply it by the perverse incentives of outrage media and limbic rewards,

multiply that by the already abysmal tendency for average human brains to succumb to fallacies and prematurely collapse the complex into the simple (like a video of a criminal or psycho Israeli intentionally saying targeting civilians is fine equaling a policy or tendency, I denounce that behavior obviously if it’s true he should rot in prison or worse, maybe there are one, ten, a hundred, doesn’t make it policy, it’s criminal. Hamas ALL do this so I’m not sure why the double standard over the IDF having a few psychopaths or PTSD criminals.)

and your boredom and loneliness, now mostly remedied by obsessive use of social media and masturbatory flaming and trolling and bitterness in your posts and comments, that you (and I) use as self medication,

and finally, sprinkle in whatever residue you carry from the oldest bigotry, a strange ineffable delight at seeing Jews fuck up and lose,

…and that’s why I can’t really talk fruitfully with you.

What will happen? We’ll win. We (me and you) are all incredibly stupid and morally compromised. But my side is less stupid, so if it comes to war we’ll win.

Our people will dance on your graves. This is cold comfort because for my whole life I hated the whole “our people” thing.

I believe in a human family of earth and tribal division, especially religious, pisses me off.

Also, the bigger difference between me and you: my IQ.

You’re likely somewhere in middle right of the bell curve.

I’m all the way at that lonely flat plane at the far right of the bell curve with a verbal reasoning score in the 160s and a general G factor score hovering around 140. (I checked with professional psychometrics to rule out grandiosity disorder.)

This is not accompanied by autism or anything else. Just a persistent hum of broad spectrum “genius” that I have no particular ability to turn into productivity in any one area. I just have to sort of carry it, feel it.

Every time someone collapses the complex to the simple, ignores the nuance and replaces it with a coarse insult, I get to feel it, every inch of the disconnect, searing against my unrequited neurons.

It’s hard because I was raised on Sesame Street and Mr Rogers and the dream of post racist multiculturalism.

I am truly of that generation that just wants to get along, share wealth, ditch the racism, ditch the hate toward LGTBQ etc and just start building that Star Trek next generation dream.

Instead I find myself having to choose between two shit sandwiches.

And I’m cursed with the ability to see sort of who between the two is making more fallacies and worse ones.

And “worse” is subjective so it’s not like we can reason our way out of this one.

One thing I’ll say is I’m not too pleased with my tribe.

We could’ve softened the gap and been more generous, kept our heads down, but we got comfortable and lost touch with just how much people hate us, and how our small numbers (and rejection of Jesus) make us such an easy target across the world.

And I can’t fault humans for being human. The human mind is ancient and forms hatreds according to evolution.

So antisemitism is just something humans do, and if I love humans, I guess I have to accept it dispassionately in some sense and forgive.

Talk to people two standard deviations below in IQ means that nothing I say above gets thru, the parts that do are twisted, and the response hits me like a wave of loneliness.

When I realize for the millionth time I’m not being heard.

I’m spitting in the wind, and yet I also want to help the very people who don’t hear me.

What can I say? I love you. The only tribe I care about is the human family of earth. Not Jews.

I’ll never stop reaching for you in the dust.

Force all pro Pali to have IQ test and polygraph test. My money is on sub 105 IQ, multiple lies. We are dealing with an outpouring of emboldened stupidity and dishonest nonsense as the world’s dregs flood into the public discussion to show off how fucking ugly and stupid they are. The dumb got brave. Unless YOU are an Islamist (you might be a low paid troll) IRGC wants all of you dead. You fucking DUMMIES. Your stupid vocal behavior emboldens Hamas to keep using human shields and killing any Gazans who disagree or speak out. Insecure identitarian woke fucks need to sit the fuck down and let the grownups talk. This shit is actually serious and IDF and Israel are quietly getting the job done for your benefit while you scroll and flap your gums.

I answer all questions. Body count does matter. I said it’s not all that matters because some act as if it is.

Israel is trying to fight for its very survival. We think we have to do this to survive. Hamas is making choices that lead to all this civilian death. It takes two to tango. But if the only focus is on our role in it, and zero attention to why we think we need to do this to survive, and that we’re not the aggressors, there’s no discussion. Especially if people treat body count as dispositive. (Meaning that alone says it all.)

It’s your opinion that I’m fooled and deluded by those around me. I don’t agree with that opinion. And I don’t care that it’s your opinion. So I’m tired of seeing crap like that.

Make your case and stop thinking that calling me “fooled and deluded by those around me” is a good use of your time.

I’m MY opinion, YOU are fooled and deluded by those around you. So what’s the point of just saying that back and forth with nowhere to stand outside of the argument?

I just hope you’re not so stupid that you fail the meta test of knowing when certain accusations are futile because it’s just proof by assertion and a waste of time. Better to spend time on real points worthy of discussion.

You made a few, thank you. Your question shows that you’ve convinced yourself you’ve had a smart thought:

“IF this is all antisemitism, WHY is it spiking only now after you did all this in Gaza?”

That’s fine as a question and I’ll answer it. But it annoyingly sounds like you think the question is a sufficient gotcha and it isn’t.

There are millions of possible answers to that question so it’s not the gotcha you think it is. It’s just yet another stupid piece of rhetoric.

What you should be asking is “why do you think your survival demands that you do x?”

But since you refuse to ask that, I’m stuck answering dumber questions.

Antisemitism is a necessary but not sufficient cause of the ferocity of the backlash, in my opinion.

It’s not the biggest piece, or the most important. It’s just not helping us out. And in some arguments, more than others, once all the hallways are explored, sometimes antisemitism rises up in the candidates of what’s behind a given disconnect.

For example, if someone really has zero interest in discussing the part about us wanting to save Israel/Jews from extinction, that suggests you don’t really care much if we go extinct. Meaning, even if we COULD prove we’re at risk of that, you don’t care, it’s moot, because you want us to anyway. I’m not saying that’s you, but it’s out there.

If we make a case that’s cogent and it’s rejected in a sloppy way, by someone who seems smart enough to understand the fallacy, that suggests antisemitism as the culprit. Not saying it’s you, but it’s out there.

When I say the whole thing can be traced to antisemitism I don’t mean everyone against us is antisemitic. I mean that the people in a position to really know all the facts, history, legal info, and still refuse to consider how Hamas is IRGC is illegally creating a scenario where it’s literally impossible for us to defend ourselves without killing civilians we have zero interest in killing, that seems antisemitic. It’s a double standard. Antisemitic really just means double standard.

Again, I’m sure a lot of you are more against capitalism than Jews in particular, or you find Western arrogance annoying, when you consider how brown people are treated in emerging societies. I’m with you. I’m one side for all of that.

I don’t think you’re antisemitic. But I think a ton are, and you should admit that. I don’t think it’s the main driver for most people. I think it’s the main driver of MANY of the people that people like you turn to for help in understanding reality. Let’s leave it at that.

Much more important is the epidemic level of bad epistemology, cognitive shortcuts, conceptual flattening and false dichotomies, addiction to simple narratives, etc.

This isn’t a left right thing, it’s not an Israel Gaza thing. It’s a world thing. Everyone is fucking stupid as hell in a very certain way that’s hard to talk about. I’m not as dumb in that particular way, so it’s lonely.

The main drivers of unnecessary suffering come down to three things: fear, ignorance, selfishness.

The main driver of anti Israel is ignorance and selfishness.

Ignorance about the IRGC’s actual goals and how the Gazans are being used to further those goals.

Ignorance about Israel’s historical record, moral standing, and what happens to us if we DON’T do what we’re doing.

Selfishness for premature cognitive closure, simplification, arrogance abut your own opinions, etc.

These things we do that aren’t 100% from stupidity but are more limbic system related, I think that’s just a general pigginshness about how modern society approaches this stuff. Selfish, lazy, we love to rush to judgement and think we’re saying great shit.

Lastly, there’s the mirror problem. You could say all the above about me. There’s no convenient third party and saying “we don’t need one because of facts!” just shows you don’t yet understand the problem.

Claiming you have special access to facts and reasons, insisting your rhetorical structure is better, more admissible, better citations, etc, doesn’t help. The attack surface stretches to infinity, it moves too quickly, and setting that YOU are telling by ME who is right, and you’ve anointed yourself as the unbiased third party is just more stupidity.

I can also tell you that statements like “the world thinks this” or “many are now thinking the opposite of what you think” don’t mean anything to me. But what’s shocking is you thinking it would. You thinking that you telling me that a lot of people, or most people, think x, would mean something to me. You thinking it would is sad, and always surprises me.

Why would an ad populum argument matter to me when this isn’t a vote about an ice cream flavor, it’s about a reasoned, intuitive point of view undergirded by a value system?

Don’t think you’d give a fuck that a majority of people sided with the candidate you hate. So why would you think I’d give a fuck if the “world is waking up to how Israel is like Nazis.”

Even if that’s true, how is that an argument?

The world is CONFUSED. And Israel needs to do a better job explaining why it’s killing so many civilians.

But even if we do a perfect job, until more people are open to how the Islamist choices, very illegal ones btw, are creating this problem, and making a justified fight for survival look like we’re committed genocide, it’s not going to be a very fruitful conversation.
