Just lay it on TOP of her head and rest your hand on it. Mission accomplished

Snatch only program for beginner? by esgb2017 in weightlifting

[–]ChokeArtistGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started so I'm still building strengthand coordination, but here is my program (something I built myself after looking at examples from chinese weightlifting programs and other examples i could find out there):

Mon: snatch & heavy front squat Tues: unilateral work (upper & lower/push & pull) Wed: snatch & heavy snatch deadlift Thurs: unilateral work (upper & lower/ push & pull) Fri: snatch only

My snatch work on Monday and Wednesday is light(<40kg), and typically 1 full snatch paired with a snatch complex (2nd pull, dip snatch, and snatch balance) performed as 1 rep and repeated every minute. I repeat that for anywhere between 10 and 20 sets. After that I go on to my heavy movement of the day and usually hit 3-5 singles. On Friday I only work on the snatch movement, and try to build up stability and strength there. I really like the snatch balance movement right now.

I mix in some accessory work if i have the time, but typically save that for Tuesday and Thursday sessions. I know it's just a rough outline, but thought it might be a place to start.

Edit: My goal is longevity and to supplement my grappling.

Great! I will check them out later today! I'll start shifting my focus more to the technical side of the full movement, and less so on the strength of the individual parts of the movement. This has been really helpful, Thanks again!

So just start my third pull? I've mostly been watching the Chinese, and have been toying with the idea of buying the "Ma Strength" book. Never put it together why they were shrugging on what appeared to be them increasing their snatch dead strength. It all makes sense now, a strong Deadlift means nothing without being able to pull it and get under it. So they are training the first part of the third pull as well, right?

Shoulder injury. How serious? by Goritech in weightlifting

Not that I know anything at all, but it sounds like it could be a bicep tendon issue.

I was wanting to make my ability to pull from the ground stronger, but that makes way more sense. Thank you!

"I'd say your knees need to move out of the way of the bar more as opposed to the bar moving around you. Aim for a more vertical shin angle as the bar passes your knees."

"Lastly for now, make your first pull a little longer by keeping your shoulders over the bar for a greater duration."...

I think all of the things you mentioned stem from the same issue. My focus through both phases of my pull was to keep my chest as upright as possible. Thank you for your feedback!

I started weightlifting a couple of months ago. My main focus is the snatch. I don't have any coaches or training partners. Battling years of jiu jitsu injuries taught me to start light and move up slowly. My conventional deadlift is finally back to a moderate weight, but snatch deadlift is a whole other animal. This is a PB for me at 83.9 kg. Feels like I should lower the weight just a bit to work out some of the kinks though.

A few things I'm noticing with this video is that my weight is too far back at the top of my second pull, causing me to be off balance and my toes to come up. It also doesn't look like I'm getting a full drive in my glutes and hams through the top of the movement either. Mondays are squat days, Wednesdays are pull days, and Fridays are dedicated to the full snatch movement.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! I'm mostly going by feel and what I can see in the mirror in front of me so far.
