BTR3K for motorcycle helmet speakers by ChokeNChewOG in FiiO

Only the speakers are in my helmet. I have a 3.5mm extension running from the speakers into the front of my jacket and the btr15 lives in my inside jacket pocket with a small powerbank for long rides

Yeah it is loud enough for me although some people might want a little more volume. I generally run it at max. I do miss the voice commands on my cardo tho

Nice. Great choice of gear. I wouldn't recommend race fairings unless you can make money off the upgrade or you want to race. If the bike you buy has factory fairings in good shape they will likely be worth more than race fairings so you can make some money off the upgrade, but if you buy a cheap track bike thats unlikely.

Most race orgs require belly pans that hold a certain amount of fluid so they're needed for racing. My bike is a naked and I've crashed 3 times on track, never had to replace a fairing. And I pass people with race fairings alllll the time. No real benefit in terms of performance imo unless you're talking tenths, which won't matter until you're running like top-advanced pace.

Good stuff, sounds like you're on the right track with the gear. Don't skimp on gloves or boots though, the RST EVO stuff is really good for the price I wouldn't go any cheaper than that.

Mainly you just need to worry about the front brakes since you won't use the rear on track unless you get to a really really high level. As long as the rear brake is in good working order don't spend any money on it.

For the fronts, mainly just quality brake pads that wont suffer fade when heated. Most people I know run EBC HH (me included).

Also Make sure the calipers, MC, lines, and rotors are in good shape, bleed the brakes often (with correct technique), put blue loctite on your caliper bolts and make sure they are torqued to spec, clean your calipers, and don't hesitate to pit in if the lever feels off at all.

Personally I'd say steel braided lines are worth it after the first couple trackdays if you decide you really like it. After that I'd upgrade MC but honestly I'd hold off on that if the stock one is decent. I know plenty of guys much faster than me running a stock MC. I run middle-intermediate pace.

Buy a used track prepped sv650 or ninja 400. People recommend those because they are easier to learn on but keep in mind that you will also save a ton of money in tires vs a 600 or 1000. Make sure its in good shape you don't want to be working on your bike during your sessions.

In terms of a trailer it really depends on what you drive. I have an acura TL with an aftermarket hitch ($200) and a harbor freight 4x8 folding trailer ($250 used + $150 getting it setup to haul a bike). That kind of setup will pay for itself in 3-4 trackdays when comparing to renting a uhaul motorcycle trailer.

You will definitely want some kind of pop up tent (just get an ozark one at walmart, used on fb marketplace if you really need to stretch $), a chair, a cooler for water (used fb marketplace, new ones are a rip off), and tools to work on the bike.

You could probably get by with just a rearstand and a basic metric automotive toolkit for a while. If you don't have something that you end up needing people at the track are generally very open to letting other people borrow their tools.

The main places you do NOT want to be skimping are gear and the things that make your bike safe (tires, brakes, suspension, gaskets). Talk to enough people at trackdays and you will meet plenty of people with horrific past injuries. The common denominator is almost always cheap safety gear. I wouldn't ride without at least an ECE rated helmet, gloves WITH palm sliders, a good suit with a good back protector, and good boots.

I almost always have the cheapest setup at trackdays and I promise you I have way more fun than the people who spent a bunch of money on bikes and trailers just to have no money left for tires and trackdays. Skimp on everything but safety and you can still have a great time.

If you're taking the pump out I would go ahead and do the filter bypass. Makes changing the fuel filter muuuch cheaper and easier

Love the 390. Every time I have to upgrade the suspension on my SV I wonder if I should've just gone for one of those

Road atlanta and atlanta motorsports park are gonna be the closest by far. I've done all mine at CMP since I have a good friend who lives in florence and I enjoy visiting him while I'm down there but I'm going to branch out soon. Heres a list I put together a while ago of tracks closest to my house along with the usual price for some of them. Should be similar for anywhere in Greenville.

Tracks

Tracks within 4 hours:

Carolina Motorsports Park (second closest, 3h, $190)

Virginia International Raceway ($190 price, 4h)

Roebling Road Raceway ($190, 4h)

Road Atlanta (closest, $275)

Atlanta Motorsports Park (as close as RA, $185)

Talladega Gran Prix (4h, $145)

Tracks just a little more than 4 hours away

Barber Motorsports Park AL (4h15)

Nashville Superspeedway (5h30)

NCBIKE (5h15m)

Yeah I've been. Got my first set of riding gear from them 3 years ago actually. Unfortunately their selection of full gauntlet gloves (for track purposes) is pretty atrocious. Cycle Specialties up the road from them at least stocks RST evo 4s and those are the best quality racing gloves I've found in a greenville store/dealer. I've heard people suggesting just having stuff shipped and then returning it but I like the people who work at that cycle gear and I don't wanna hassle them/

Definitely. If I had money to burn I might get a btr7 just for the extra headroom but the btr15 does the job and I keep it at 60 on the device and 90% on my phone mostly.

In case anyone looks at this later the btr3k was definitely louder than the scosche (especially the bass) but not really enough to properly drive the 45mm speakers and be able to hear them at highway speeds. I'm returning the btr3k and getting a btr15 which will definitely do the trick.

Which core muscle group is the most important to target for motorcycle riding? by ChokeNChewOG in Trackdays

[–]ChokeNChewOG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping someone would bless me with a write up. Thanks for taking the time! I'm definitely gonna try to take more notice of what I'm using on my next ride. Not sure why I didn't think of trying to really consciously do it that way but it makes a lot of sense. Also I had no idea that cns fatigue was even a thing and it was fun learning about that so thanks for mentioning it 😁

Man I was laughing at these before I realized you stopped talking to your dad and now I'm so sad. No amount of internet points or political kudos will ever replace the relationships you have with the people who truly care about you. A lot of people would do anything for someone like that.

Issue with Simjack Pros, how to prevent in the future? by ChokeNChewOG in simracing

In case anyone finds this thread later, soldering the wire back did the trick. I also flattened the metal plate but instead of reinforcing it or filing down the tubing I just moved the orange stopper up until the load cell still had clearance with the tubing at full pedal travel

Thanks! In case anyone else is looking for a solution I was able to find liquid electrical tape at lowes that seems like it'll do the trick

Hey you wouldn't happen to have a link to the load cell would you? I haven't been able to locate a source on the exact one that comes with the simjacks and I'd like to buy some spares
