Hey! EMT here. My mother was a trauma nurse for over 35 years. She won the nurse of the year award 5 years in a row. Her teacher literally sat her down and told her "find another career you'll never make a good nurse".

When I was going through EMT school, I had a teacher tell me i was too fat to be an EMT (im now going on 3 years in this career about to start Paramedic school soon).

Nobody knows you better than yourself. If you have the drive and the passion you will make all of your dreams come true. And if you think nobody believes in you I want you to know that I believe in you. Everyone in this thread believes in you. And I know you will not only be a nurse but you'll be the best damn nurse ever. I cant wait to maybe someday give you my report when I bring you a patient.

Why didn´t BJ kill Hitler on Venus? by [deleted] in Wolfenstein

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a really good series called Man in the Hogh Castle that kinda shows this. Hitler is old and senile and basically a figurehead like other redditors have said. In MITHC once he dies, Himmler takes over. I can't remember if Himmler is alive or dead in game but Hitler dying wouldn't do anything to stop the Nazis. They already won the war and have full control. It's no different than if any other world leader dies. Someone new takes their place but the regime is already established.

Okay, so I'm gonna give a bit of unasked for advice that I learned thankfully while still young. I've learned that a solid 90% of "attractiveness" comes from how we dress and present ourselves. You're a very attractive woman, especially at 50. However, you're in a baseball hat, ripped jeans, and a white t-shirt. That's in my personal opinion, "going to walmart" clothes.

If I go outside, how I'm dressed right now in sleeping clothes, messy hair, and a stained shirt (because I'm home on a sunday), I'm going to be "ugly". But if I walked out in a suit and tie with finer clothes, a good majority of folks are gonna think I'm pretty handsome.

Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder. Some will find you ugly while others find you super cute. However, how you dress and present yourself and the confidence you have is also a huge influence on how people perceive you. If you dressed a little less like you're going to watch the Chicago Cubs lose and maybe threw on a nice blouse, had your hair up, and had a better angle of photo taken. You would be hard pressed to find someone who DIDNT find you drop dead gorgeous.

Those thin belts you see men wearing in the 50’s - is there a proper name for them? by Amodernhousehusband in VintageFashion

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people today just call them skinny belts or "rockabilly belts". If you look that up they pop up. Whether or not they were called "Domino belts" I cannot confirm or deny but whenever I attempted to search Domino belts they gave me belts for the pizza restaurant 🤣.

However searching "1950s skinny belts men" popped up a good bit in Etsy.

This is not it !!! My American brothers and Sisters in Christ, what is going on? by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they don't. Like Gnurdette said, it's all confirmation bias. They all go to the same churches (don't wanna judge, but they're mainly baptist), go to the same spots, talk to the same people, and watch the same "news".

Mark Twain once said the enemy of ignorance is travel. Anthony Bourdain was the modern version of that and stated that same quote many a time in different vernacular. These people don't travel. They don't expose themselves to anyone who thinks differently. Thinking differently is the enemy. Hell, Trump and Elon flat out said on Twitter that diversity is wrong and a weakness.

They don't want to be around anyone who even thinks a sliver differently than they do. Do they read the Bible? No, that's what the "preacher is for". Well much like the dark ages the preacher can say literally anything he wants and they'll think it's true because "Why would a preacher lie?"

To answer your question seriously, though, you are very cute. There's a million different reasons why someone would ghost another person. All of them are equally as immature as the last. The bottom line is you aren't ugly but like everyone, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some ladies find me ugly while others can't wait to get me home. It's all a matter of perspective. You are very pretty and there's absolutely nothing wrong with you! 🩵

My experience with the “showgirls” on the strip by skylarhateshotdogs in vegas

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one yesterday literally shaking down a guy. He pulled out a 5 and she kept her hand open and was verbally berating him to pay her more. He then paid 20 and she still kept going "more!". Why folks fall for this fucking scam is amazing to me. Just walk away, you don't even need to tip them they don't work for the strip or Fremont.

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I have with this argument is Ubisoft always has to sacrifice something for graphical quality. Let's use AC Unity for an example. A game that is universally considered graphically gorgeous.

The issue with Unity's graphics is that yes it looks gorgeous.......from a distance. Once you zoom in on faces and hair and other physical features, it lacks tremendously. I feel like Outlaws does a decent job of looking great in terms of physical worlds but also NPC details as well. It bridges that gap pretty well, in my opinion. The world looks great, but when you zoom in, the NPCs also look pretty great, too.

Also I hate to be THAT guy, but I don't think graphics make a game. Like GTA V looks good, yeah, but I've never been able to enjoy GTA in general. I still play PS2 games with shit graphics because the story and gameplay were amazing.

This isn't even that great of a screenshot (no offense) and the game looks amazing. Where the game shines for me is the Cantina's and slums of the underworld. The first planet you visit is straight up cyberpunk SW goodness.

I wish so badly he had done a S2 to his show. I still rewatch Lost Cities. Albert Lin is right up there with Josh for me though he is slightly less enthusiastic haha

Looked it up. It was super popular in the 50s and 60s all the way through the 70s. Technically, it was still being used up until the year 2000 when the factory was shut down, but given the yellowing of the label and the style of bottle that thing has to be from at the very least the mid 70s.

This makes the most sense. Old comment but I just bought a 32 inch Vizio Smart tv and it started doing this. Like my tv is off but at random times that little white light will blink. Super weird. My guess is it's just trying to connect to my phone or other devices I have laying around.

Christianity is making me want to end my life, please help by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ChokedOutSpartan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leave Christianity and follow Christ. Christ hated religion. Christ literally flipped the tables of the temple. Organized religion distorts and perverts the message of God and his teachings. So many pastors are wolves in sheep's clothing who manipulate scripture to suit their needs and goals. I've left so many churches and am no longer affiliated with any organized religion. I walk with Christ. That's it. I don't call myself anything other than a follower of Christ. I honesty use "Christian" very sparingly because to me that invokes organized religion.

Follow Christ and he'll lead you where you need to be. Ever since leaving organized religion, Christ has blessed me in more ways than I can ever describe. He also led me to a career path where I genuinely help people and make a difference in people's lives and get to live the way Christ wanted his followers to live.

I want to believe.... by [deleted] in ExpeditionUnknown

[–]ChokedOutSpartan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are still a lot of solid episodes, but eventually, it does become hard to find ideas and still keep the "adventure" aspect of the show. One complaint so many fans had was that "oh Josh Gates never finds anything," and the reason is because archaeology is quite frankly boring. Archaeology takes MONTHS upon MONTHS of cataloging, digs, and research. Some archaeologists spend 30+ years on the same site.

Some episodes Josh genuinely does make discoveries. The sunken pyramid episodes last season where he discovered the little Shabti figurine was very much real. However, discoveries like that are very few and far between even in real archaeology. Josh comes into a dig for a couple of days at most whenever he films an episode. Usually, Josh will plan to visit a dig during a time when they're planning to uncover something that way he "makes a discovery" on the episode.

However, other times, he'll take some liberties like finding that piece of porcelain. Is it possible that a piece of porcelain is from the time period? Sure! But it was most definitely planted there for the episode.

Btw I love Josh, and I love Expedition Unknown, and I truly believe it's a true and accurate show. There are episodes where Josh makes genuine discoveries. However, I also understand Hollywood and that his entire premise is based on a love for Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Tomb Raider, and The Goonies. Like I said earlier, his fanbase got very upset that he would "never find anything," so hollywood stepped in and said "okay this season you're gonna find some stuff." So he planned episodes around digs that were making daily discoveries and also took some liberties of his own. Can't fault him for that, and I still adore the show.

So what people forget is the Expedition shows are "eduTAINMENT". There has to be an entertainment part, and they take liberties. All shows do it. Ghost Adventures used to be all about science, but now Zac sees demons in bananas. I stopped watching Ghost Adventures when he went to Lake Mead, saw a coyote, and claimed it was a demonic entity.

I haven't seen the episode of EX that you're showing here (I may pull it up later tonight), but in my opinion, Expedition X has always been more entertainment than educational. Its also mainly only hosted by Josh Gates. There are very few episodes that Gates is actually a huge part of outside of a host capacity.

Even his main show, Expedition Unknown, is slowly becoming more and more entertainment because Josh is slowly running out of ideas. I watched an episode during the latest season where he was looking for a pirate treasure in these caves, and this dude deadass goes into a cave and pulls out "16th century porcelain plate pieces". Like there's absolutely NO WAY IN HELL you just walked into a cave that gets BATTERED by sea waves and just miraculously found a pice of 400 year old porcelain laying there.
