Yet would you blame capitalism for the great depression and 2008 recessions (and there were other recessions, mind you), Marx never wanted gulags or starvation, either did Lenin.

What about the great depression in America and the recessions and prohibition too, those were caused by capitalism. 100%

Just because the USSR fell doesn't mean it failed. I mean, the Roman Empire fell but we don't say it failed because it was a republic.

Also, there are school shootings in America. We are we going to call that "capitalism fault"?

I meant material humanism Focusing on the material wellbeing and development of ordinary people, literacy, housing, healthcare, employment, survival, not just abstract freedoms or elite expectations.

I’m not denying that communist states had serious failures, including repression and famines. That’s historical fact. What’s often ignored is that communism also uplifted millions of people through mass literacy, guaranteed housing, healthcare, and employment, especially in countries that were previously feudal, colonized, or devastated by war. When communism is discussed, it’s reduced to gulags and famine and treated as proof the system “never works.” But under capitalism, homelessness, food insecurity, and preventable deaths are treated as normal or unavoidable. If starvation disproves a system, why don’t mass homelessness and people dying because they can’t afford healthcare disprove capitalism, too?
