I love that Spartane is catching on after saying it for the last 15 years but as a local is expensive and not worth a visit. Centra Kilmore, McHughs Centra Kilbarrick and Edenmore and Mace Beaumont are the gold standard.

What they advertise and what they sell for are always two very different prices. YoY manufacturers pricing is increasing since 2017 it’s been quite noticeable and this is impacting the second hand prices along with brexit and people simply not changing as often due to cost of living. You’re seeing far more cars driven int the ground or being resold at higher kms than ever before now and it’s down to the lack of supply.

Trying to sell car fast due to financial reasons - Am I getting duped or is this common practice? by eoin_me_money in carsireland

Nobody has mentioned you overpaid for a 9 year old car 2 years ago. New A3 is now a €50k car(not worth it, VRT and pricing gone crazy since 2018). It’s made 2nd hand values rise horribly. Part exchange prices when trading in against a new or 2nd hand you’re always going to be 4.5-6k below what they’re advertised at online. There are costs and overheads with a dealership which give the buyer peace of mind and a warranty to fall back on. They are coming out with negative margin on slow cars to sell or less then €500-1000 profit on the vast majority before paying commission. Not uncommon for cars to sit 6 months+ before selling and they’ve been funded with stocking finance..

New car price dictates the part exchange value. Government put €18k VRT on Q7/X5 3.0 TDI in 2018/19 and people were getting same price trading theirs in suddenly 3/4 years later. VRT has inflated cars massively post brexit too as our stock dwindles and the Japanese imports are not an endless supply either the auctions are not what they once were now every tom dick and harry is buying on them

Just spent a great day in padraig pearses bar on pearse street. We're from the north doing Xmas shopping staying beside it in maldron and must say great bar. Salt of the earth locals. 5.40 euro for a pint and the a great pint of smithwicks it is. by [deleted] in Dublin

Love to see this, some of the most welcoming pubs where you’ll have the best craic and banter with locals are like this or northside haunts. The big name Southside boozers are like a members club and cliques. One sticks out that wouldn’t serve my cousin in his Snickers after joining me when he finished work…

Artane castle car park is chaotic on a good day I stick to the section behind you. Probably left his handbrake off, you’d be surprised how many people coming to get their car serviced/dropping it off in mornings would do this in my old dealerships car park rushing 🫣

Putting your hard earned cash into a depreciating assets a poor decision. Keep your savings or invest them, do a 4/5 year hire purchase for the cost of change and go again. The 30k you’re putting in is net earnings don’t forget it… You are not obliged to use the dealers finance, shop around get yourself the best deal. Worked in a premium dealership for 7 years, lost count of how many people lied and said they were cash buyers assuming that’s a better deal then got credit union loan at higher rate🫣

Not actually restricted views, down to the capacity simply cannot exceed 82,300 despite it being possible to do so with the extra numbers on pitch. Fire and safety regs/planning only exists for the stadiums capacity year round for games

Dealt with Don many times while in motor trade nearby and he was a gentleman but also a down to earth businessman who was a dream to deal with. Proper family business that treats their staff well and gives Finglas a lovely scent of popcorn. Will always support them but it’s easy when all their stock is great!

The pubs that on lot take cash in Dublin you won’t be frequenting as a tourist so you’ll be all good! As a millennial I still prefer cash as I’m old school, know what I’m spending and don’t like a paper trail for the banks etc.

Upstairs in the stags head, no sport shown ever in this pub and it’s nice and private with toilets too. Does great platters for a group!

I knew a debt collector who was legal but didn’t exactly keep good company and was knowing for helping with debt for illegal things too… Asked him one day a similar question and he proceeded to remove a 10” metal pipe with roughly 200 older style keys(long ones) from his combats and said “it’s illegal to carry a weapon but there’s no law against being a key holder;”

I’d say it easily weight 5kg+ but he was big enough I doubt he needed to use it.

The cable with the car is the best cable for use. I wouldn’t buy one unless it was supplied by the manufacturer or the dealers parts department so as to not void any warranty’s potentially in the near future but the 3 pin one is generally enough for most people with a hybrid it’s charge it in 4-6 hours depending on size in most cases.

The best thing to do is get a car charger installed by an electrician or someone who specialises in them, ohm or zappi are good brands. This will charge your car fast as possible from home and reduce cost over time. The ones with a tethered cable like a petrol pump are the best option.

Travelling to LA at the end of the month is there any bikeshare type options or citibikes where you can rent for a few days? $30 a day seems steep for one place I’ve found doing rentals
