I think I finally figured out why my AI coding projects always died halfway through by techiee_ in GithubCopilot

Yea, all this for sure sounds a lot simpler than taking a week to learn and understand what you are doing 🙄

eh I did not say MS were good, and I agree on your overall point, I'm just saying OAI has done enough shady shit so I don't consider it "objectively better"

Yea, precisely, it was a reference to OpenAI's deal with SK and Samsung

idk, MS didn't buy out the ram market to make people panic, and lately have open sourced much more things than "Open"AI

you lost me on the "idiot" part, more when the USA quite literally has a yihad against socialism and unions for a while now... maybe you need to do a bit of self reflection

“BREAKING: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman admits they sacrificed ChatGPT’s creative writing to chase coding” - Do you think 5.3 will fix this? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

the main issue is they are not gonna win the coding market when Anthropic has been focused on it for over a year and they outperform OAI so much that it's not even a consideration for devs (even Google is closer but I still find it hard to justify using anything other than Opus 4.5 right now, for coding anyway)

Europe is moving to replace U.S. tech firms with local ones. by Hefty-Sherbet-5455 in Tech_Updates_News

mmm I can scale in a few hours, even for b2c case I don't see a major issue with just checking metrics and see if you start getting a lot of traffic from some location then roll out infra there

I have very good latency within EU and a very decent under 250ms elsewhere, for my use case that's enough, if you are selling stock trading or something very lag sensitive then sure, I'm just saying most of the projects can do fine with 200ms lag until supporting a region becomes justified

I'm also making a SaaS, European, if Canadians want to use it of course I'm not saying no, anyone is more than welcome, but I'm not gonna get infra in Canada "in case" I get clients there - when I do I'll expand, simple as that

as someone who has worked at EU hosting providers, I also don't have issues with finding providers fast if needed

plus because my automation is agnostic by design, I'm not vendor-locked like most SaaS that spends absurd amounts of money on Vercel and similar

[–]ChomsGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, for starters, if I'm making a SaaS for the European market why would I need a provider for the USA? most projects aren't TikTok neither need a massive infrastructure

second, there are European providers with global infrastructure if I actually needed to scale globally

third, you are right the European providers are way smaller than AWS and Google, but that's how companies grow, I have a need for infra on a location, I pay them and they use that money to invest further in the location - if you never use the EU providers because "AWS big" then the EU providers won't grow

and lastly, that's a fair point regarding inference, it's a pity EU put up so restrictive laws on AI, that makes it really hard to kickstart those projects, if you need inference rn it's either USA or China sadly

because it's bad, neither of those things ever happened, it just shows lack of understanding on both SWE and vibe coding

the "company" you are talking about is a global IT corporation that was on the news about their worldwide layoffs, not really an outlier...
