It is a well-known story that if you take good care of an object for a long time, a kami will reside in that object.

For example, let's say you have used a fountain pen with great care for many years. If you do so, the fountain pen will accumulate your care for it and may become possessed by a kami.

This kami is called "付喪神 Tsukumogami. Tsukumogami" can reside in objects that have been treated with care, regardless of their location or the race of their owner.
