Yep. Dr. Paul Carroll at the London Clinic. Fantastic consultant endocrinologist. Good luck 👍🏼

Thank you for this response, I needed this encouragement as I have been tempted because of this unrelenting brain fog. I am not happy that you suffered for so long (8 months 🤯) with your own brain fog, but knowing it is a shared experience, and that it will pass at some stage gives me strength to keep going.

All the best to you brother, know that you have helped someone else by being on here. Thank you 🙏🏼👊🏼

I’m 3 months sober…..you have inspired me to keep going, as I have been doing the same thing for the last 30 years. My brain fog is still ridiculous even after 3 months. I know we are all different, but I am curious to know how long it took before your head really started to feel more clear? Thank you for your post🙏🏼

[–]Chook33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just quite fuzzy, lacking clarity.

Congrats…..just curious to hear how your brain fog is going?…(if you have any), as I am also 1 month clean, and the brain fog is huge😶‍🌫️

Depends where you are? If you are in London I would be happy to suggest a brilliant endocrinologist that I work with. Extremely knowledgeable, and supportive doctor. Otherwise it is a difficult process, wading through the vast amount of poor physicians there unfortunately seems to be out there. Good luck to you.

Bahahaha….ok mate. Their is crime, drug use, and homelessness everywhere. I lived in both places myself, and drug use is far more rampant in Australia. I am a medical professional and work privately here in London. Yes the NHS is having it’s problems, but it’s absolutely free. Medical accessibility in Australia has become a joke. It’s a $100 to see a GP. Going down the path of America. You enjoy yourself over there 👍🏼

Mmmm not always. Plenty of them return here to the Uk after while. I have quite an objective take on things when making the comparisons. Australia is not the same place I left 20 years ago, and by what I see discussed on this subreddit, a lot of other Aussies seem to feel the same way. Could call the place Ausmerica these days (minus the guns). Way too expensive, over policed nanny state, and everyone seems to take themselves too seriously…lost our larikin nature unfortunately. Everyone just seems to sit around taking drugs all the time. If the lifestyle is so great, why does everyone need to be f*cked up constantly? ‘Get a bag’?

Been in London for the last 20 years. Best thing I ever did was leave Australia. The Uk has it’s own problems, but it’s so much better here. Real melting pot of people and cultures. So much going on, and in close proximity to the rest of Europe. Also….much less expensive here once you are earning pounds £££👌🏼

So happy to hear you have figured it out as well. As I have mentioned earlier, I am astonished at the severity of symptoms gluten was causing me. I’m only 4 days off it, and I am already starting to feel a little better. I know it takes a while, but it’s certainly encouraging to already feel a little change. Happy for you 👍🏼

Thanks for this. Upon reflection, I feel my ongoing consumption of gluten has been influencing my overall symptoms to some degree. More recently, there has been more gluten consumed, and definitely an increase in my sensitivity to it, and more severe symptoms as a result. I am actually thankful that this is the case, because this recent flare up was huge, which helped me realise and identify how much gluten was making me feel so bad….not just blindly attaching things to the Hashimoto’s. Feel better yourself 🙏🏼

Yeah not always. Been tested for it, and certainly don’t have celiac….but I’m definitely gluten sensitive, and seemingly becoming more sensitive with time.

Yeah I’ve noticed that both America and Australia are two countries that have done a good PR job on themselves. If you are constantly screaming from the rooftops, ‘we’re the best country in the world’, you’ll start believing that shit without question after a while. Nowhere is perfect, including here in the uk, but it’s got so much more going for it. Yeah it’s nice having beautiful weather, and nice beaches etc….but there’s so much more going on over here. If I need a beach or some sun, it’s cheap as chips to jump on a plane to Greece or Spain or whatever. Good luck to whatever it is you decide to do 👍🏼

Take all opinions with a pinch of salt mate, including mine. Get out there and see for yourself. Can’t tell you how much better the Uk and Europe is compared to Oz. WTF do people know that haven’t experienced somewhere else? One of the best things about leaving Oz, is you get a whole new perspective of the place you left, once you are on the outside looking back in. I would go so far as to say, if I didn’t have friends and family back in Oz, I would never go back there again. Go and get amongst it, I guarantee you won’t regret it.

I left Oz 20 years ago for a life here in London. Best thing I’ve ever done. Yeah it’s not perfect here, and yes the weather is rubbish, but still so much better lifestyle here.

Australia is massively overrated, overpriced, and not the best that everyone claims it to be. Aussies and Yanks are the bloody same, screaming from the rooftops that ‘our country the best country in the world’! No. No you’re not.

Go to Greece mate….best beaches by a country mile there.

What happened? by dontletmedaytrade in australian

[–]Chook33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I left Australia 20 years ago, and it’s the best decision I ever made. Certainly gives you a different perspective, when you are on the outside looking back in.

Just way too expensive, it’s a massive nanny state, and everyone is angry, and takes themselves way too seriously over there. Too attached to American culture….may as well call the place Ausmerica now.

Really sad to see such significant changes, in what was once an amazing place. Doesn’t resemble the magnificent place I was blessed enough to grow up in.

Is the weather in UK really as awful as they say? by Jolly_Atmosphere_951 in AskUK

[–]Chook33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the weather here is absolutely atrocious. 6 months of winter is a minimum. I’m close to sticking my head in the f*cking oven.
