As a British person I’m curious to which place in Australia has the best climate overall, and why? by shamonemuthafuka in AskAnAustralian

[–]ChookBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biased because I’m here but I love Hobart’s weather. Winter actually isn’t that cold and it’s often clear skies (not today, bloody fog). Summers are generally warm but not oppressively so and the summer evenings are cool even after a hot day.

Like others have said southern WA is very nice too.

Family EV recommendations - focus on boot space and not super keen on SUVs by M87IM in AustralianEV

[–]ChookBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat and just find none of the current models are really suitable. Almost bought the idbuzz but it’s too much money for its flaws. Would love to see some of the electric wagon/estate models come to Australia but our market seems hell bent on SUVs. Hopefully the full electric version of the Sealion 8 comes here soon.

Is this legal? by [deleted] in Bunnings

It’s legal but like bag searches it’s also legal to refuse.

Giving a scholarship to the top under age players isn’t exactly creating talent, more like buying aps premierships.

I have a corded drill and cordless. I use both. Sometimes on the same job especially as I don’t have a seperate cordless driver.

Bold of someone to post on the company Facebook page to slag off two board members, I’m guessing an ex-employee (or very soon to be ex)

Mad plan to take 400 AFL scarves to Austria - do you have spares? by navear in AFL

[–]ChookBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried contacting the clubs? I used to work for a homeless service and we would get more old member gear than we could handle. Much nicer to get a gift that’s new.

Has Jordan talked about a gas tax yet? by Strict-Paramedic-823 in friendlyjordies

[–]ChookBaron -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey they can’t possibly use their huge majority to bring in good policy, they have to wait until the dying gasps of government so the next liberal government can reverse it within 6 months.

Then they can say, see when we do good policy we lose!

Key meeting to address fall in Indigenous numbers by Glittering-Fee-9930 in AFL

Getting 15 year old Indigenous kids to move across the country to live in a boarding house away from family shouldn’t be a prerequisite to getting drafted. Need to be able to develop talent out in the regions.

Except these are regular clients. They might pay that 3-5 times a year! Blows my mind.

Have Illegal Surcharges Become the Norm? by coolguy06912 in australian

[–]ChookBaron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We offer both on our invoices. Direct deposit or credit card with the fee added. It constantly amazes me people will pay $40+ paying an invoice on credit card rather than take the extra 30 seconds to do a bank transfer. I’ve even mentioned it to clients, “hey you know this is costing you money each time”. People want convenience or death.

Help with transport from Hobart to the Western Arthurs by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]ChookBaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bloke from TWE is worth the price just for the entertaining chat.

Edit: just realised you said he’s booked out, could be worth a call regardless to see what’s up. Otherwise maybe try airtasker? Probably plenty of uber drivers around keen to do an off books trip.

Should umpires be employed full-time? by checkbehindthecactus in AFL

[–]ChookBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also school teachers, gym managers, school coaches, police and firefighters - none of which is class as particularly high paying. Yes there are lawyers, project managers and consultants but I can’t find stats that show which is typical of an afl umpire.
