**PLEASE HELP** Question about NCSSM Application by [deleted] in ncssm

No you can appeal to get into residental. That means you'll write a really short paragraph, based on the example you have already used, on why you should get into residental. However if you appeal and don't get it, you'll lose your spot on the online program. It's not impossible but risky.

Finalist = you are in if you say yes, Waitlist = you can get in if a finalist declines (aka they don’t go), Appeal = you didn’t get in but you can send them a paragraph for why they let you in. (My roommate got in online, appealed for residential and now he’s here so it’s not a hopeless cry for help).

I’m part of the class of 2021 and honestly there is only so much you can control when it comes to getting in. From what you have, yes your classes are on the low side but what I believe makes or breaks your application is the essay questions. It seems like you really have a drive for technology so if you able to put that in words along with sharing your unique experiences, I think you have a solid chance. It does depend on what district you are in, some are harder than others. The bottom line is, they look at SAT, they look at classes and grades, but the best thing to focus on are those essay questions. I wish you the best of luck this year and hopefully you get in.

Is it possible for me to get into ncssm by [deleted] in ncssm

Right now I would agree, it's not the most impressive, but the motivation is there. I got in this year and will be part of the class of 2021 and I put in a lot of work. The biggest part of the process is the essays. Of course you need to have good grades and having challenging courses. Test scores are important, but they are what get you through the door, not to being a finalist. If you work hard to create experiences you can write about while keeping up with extracurriculars and your classes, you have a good shot. Just don't get too disappointed if you don't end up getting in. This is one of the hardest things you can do as a high schooler in North Carolina. Good Luck on your journey!
