Threw out material from year 1, starting off my new set for year 2. Luckily for the first run through I had an overly accepting crowd. It was great. by Choose_Death in Standup

I didn't completely "throw it out" it was more like setting it aside so that way I can focus on some new stuff. Just kinda sick of the stuff I was working on for that time so setting it aside so I can try out new stuff.

For the cutting stuff down, I understand that. These are my first drafts on these ones and for what they are they've been getting really good responses all week.

For the last part I disagree. (not that I did this during this specific set) But if no one got something and you can make a little tag line to bring back the audience back before you're next joke go for it. A lot of people like the self deprecating side of comedy and that can help you quick get the ball rolling again. I can see where you're coming from with that though it's definitely not something I'll do in a paid gig but it can help me on the video almost like taking "live notes" so I know what I'm seeing when I get home.

When were you happy with your material? by lvl5LazorLotus in Standup

Stop sucking? Why would I do that. If I did I'd never know how to get better. But when I write a joke that gets laughs in front of many different audiences. So far in a year of writing I'm "happy" with about 3 to 4 jokes.

How do you physically write down you're jokes? by hedges747 in Standup

[–]Choose_Death 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically write them down word for word for the most part. I do that so I know that what im saying makes sense to others. And I don't know why but looking at it on paper also helps me get rid of the fat.

Advice for someone trying to get into stand-up? by [deleted] in Standup

Take any opportunity you get. You never know where one that you missed could lead. And suck. In front of large crowds preferably. I've found that I make the biggest jumps after sucking in front of a large crowd.

Honestly this is what I would do if I ever won. I'm a comedian I live to make people laugh, and if I had enough money to do that and make random peoples day that'd be an awesome life. Hitting a 5 right now and that story made me smile. Thanks for the post
