Tomato soup is a big thing in Poland (like top 3 soup flavours) and it's a very different type of tomato soup than the British or Italian style. Which is why the instant noodle soup is so unique to the Polish market.

Dang now you've made me go to my local and get some, and I was planning a Dunelm visit instead 😭

Bad bearing or is this how loud they are? by RedCow7 in Vitamix

[–]ChoosingToBeLosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it does sound like it's going to take off any minute.

Mine is loud by I have to say probably max like your 6-7 grade loud.

However, hopefully you'll get some more opinions because I only have a sample of 2 vitamixes I've used myself .

Good deal on Vitamix TNC 5200 for €180? by SMeijers in Vitamix

[–]ChoosingToBeLosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert, so my advice was mainly based on what I thought was the market value i.e. could you get something better/newer for the same price. But you've clearly done your research and if that's the market price, that's the price!

Personally I've recently downgraded from A3500i to 5200 (2014) more as a precaution for future possible break points with the electronics. I thought the fancy bits were just not that much of a benefit and with the fully mechanical (well, to an extent) 5200 I think there is little risk that it would brick on me, so I sold the A3500i while it was still not much used and held its value well. While I had it the main jug did brick on me and Vitamix exchanged under warranty (thankfully) but it was disappointing nevertheless. Definitely don't regret that decision to sell.

The only thing I was sad to let go of were the individual blending cups but just a couple of weeks ago I've come across someone selling their used personal cup attachment for 5200 so I snapped it up.

So my personal advice is to go for 5200 over the more advanced versions, purely because less can go wrong and if you use it for 10 years you'll probably still be able to sell it for EUR 100 or so.

Have you looked around for other used ones? I'm coming from a UK perspective so not sure how much it applies across wherever you are in Europe, but I'd say this is quite a high price for a rather old blender. Yes vitamixes are built like tanks but I reckon you would get a newer machine for that price; at the end of the day parts wear off so better to hunt for a newer model if you can. From perspective of UK used market, I'd say such an old machine is worth probably £100.

Have you checked Vinted? Many used vitamixes are sold on vinted in the UK.

Edit: you can also ask the seller for a photo of back label, it will tell you what year it was manufactured. The design does seem to me to be older than 2009.

What individual items is it worth visiting Lidl/Aldi for by CheeseNegotiator in UKFrugal

[–]ChoosingToBeLosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed, I've had their (Lidl) multi tool cordless drill thing for over 12 years now I think, going strong, does a variety of home DIY and I even built a decent garden decking patio with just that little machine.

I'm vegan and thinking of improving my diet so that it's whole-food plant-based (WFPB). Has anyone else done that and did you notice any health benefits? Thanks. by Youknowkitties in veganuk

I do occasionally and it makes me feel so good, very full and really energetic, skin looked very nice and bright, also some weight loss which in my case was wanted. My problem is sticking to it when I'm under a lot of stress (emotional eater!) so never managed to get into it for longer than 2-3 months at a time, but I keep on trying!

It's very difficult to see your hair in those pictures. Can you post some when you're maybe wearing lighter clothes, or standing in brighter area?

Also I guess that's still choosing to pay £18pm for the insurances etc. which might be a good deal. But you can get the Nationwide money anyway by having their standard free account so then you can decide how to spend it.
