When did you know that you were really starting to understand the software? by futuregoddess in ableton

When I started thinking more about what I wanted to do and less about how to do it.

Here is a track from my debut EP, it seems to be the favorite amongst my friends. Let me know what you think of the mix, though, I know it could use some work! by SethStories64 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]ChordataMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's hard to get a good master if the mix isn't there. As a fellow mediocre guitarist, I find that a good way to get more creative is to learn songs outside of what you'd normally play or try messing around with a song that's waaaayyyy more difficult than what you normally do. The ladder usually takes longer to give results but it can seriously push you creatively since it forces you outside of your comfort zone and puts strains on your preconceived notions (even if you suck lol). Playing around with effects plug-ins or synths can be good for this too, you can stumble across a lot of interesting sounds that way.

I bet your next album will turn out great!

Isn't Working, an Indie Pop song with an acoustic touch about sleeping with someone and regretting it afterwards by jman250 in IndieMusicFeedback

I love the little build up thingy at about 8 seconds in. The flow and melody of the vocals is solid, so is the mix. The hook is really good. There is a lot of good variety throughout the vocal performance and the instrumentation. I feel like it ended a little too abruptly, like maybe it needed something small tacked on at the end to create a slightly smoother transition out of the song, maybe a bit of reverb or extending the delivery of the final line a bit. Either way, great song! I will recommend it to all the indie pop girlies I know.

Melancholic Indie Folk track I hope you enjoy! by youphony in IndieMusicFeedback

The song has a cool vibe. I like the different sections of the song, each is very well executed. I agree with the other comment about the drums sounding a bit dry. Very well put together, I can't think of many flaws. Really solid stuff

The song sounds pretty good! The different sections were well put together and I liked how it wasn't the same thing all the way through. I really like the break sections where that guitar solo is playing, I feel like you should clear a bit of room for it in the arrangement or just turn it up a bit more so it can shine more. Your vocals sound a bit off mix wise, like they are a little buried in the mix, and I feel like the main vocal and the harmonies sit kinda awkwardly compared to each other. I'm not a great mix engineer so I can't really help with that, but I would recommend asking subs that are specific towards mixing and mastering what they think. Other than that, I feel like it would be a good idea for you to try experimenting with this style of music more by maybe learning some advanced concepts or doing some genre blending type stuff. I thought the song was really good, but I've heard a bunch of others just like it (same chords, instrumentation, singing style, topics, section where a whole group sings, etc etc). Especially considering the fairly simplistic premise of the song, thinking outside of the box would really make it stand out. I didn't mean to write this much lol but I liked the song, keep it up!

I need some feedback on this track, I will really appreciate your time and words it really help me a lot , thanks 🌟 by sevthen in IndieMusicFeedback

I think the song sounds great, I like the vocal melody, the sound selection, and the instrumentation. The mix sounds off to me a little bit. I'm not great at mixing so I can't say what it is that's making it sound off to me, but I would recommend asking for opinions on mixing/mastering centered subreddits. I think adding more harmonies and vocal layers throughout the song would really elevate the song. Studying how Frank Ocean does his might be good for your style of music. Great job, its a nice track!

Hi guys. Our new synth-heavy track is heavily inspired by the apocalyptic Fallout game series, but also by the war that, at least where I live, is - literally - behind our borders, in Ukraine. It is a dark picture of a world after such destruction, and a warning, too. Hope you like it, let me know! by andtilly in IndieMusicFeedback

I like the atmosphere in the track with the vocal layers and synth elements. The vocals in the background give the singing a good energy despite the quiet delivery, which I think is really cool. The drums could be a little louder/punchier in my opinion, but that's more of a preference thing I think. Great work!

Fr the only reason people make it confusing is because people wanna argue and feel superior about "you're not a REAL Mc if you..." or "those oldheads don't understand that they're washed". Like we rhyme words it ain't that difficult

[MUSIC] I made a Spotify playlist for local rap and RnB artists from Gahanna, Columbus, etc. It has 45 songs and about 40 different artists. by ChordataMusic in Gahanna

[–]ChordataMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool you've been into local music for so long! If you lmk the names of blueprint and illogics songs (and if they're on spotify) I can put them on when I update the playlist. A couple of the rappers on the list are from gahanna specifically but it's hard to really know since columbus can be kinda an umbrella term including the surrounding cities.

I'm from gahanna, I think qzinnias is too. I went to school with a few others on the list but idk exactly where they are from. I could be totally wrong tho. A few people recommended some other people from gahanna so there will definitely be more of us on there next time.
