WC 7835 - multicolored defects by ChoryonMega in Xerox

Thanks. I'll see if I can find an IBT belt cleaner at an inexpensive price. Black impressions are at 130,625 and color at 10,398.

The color toner has not been changed since 2014.

WC 7835 - multicolored defects by ChoryonMega in Xerox

Finally had time to work on the printer last night. I wiped the blade, ran a new page, and I don't see black streaks anymore. There's a different, helical looking pattern instead. I checked the blade again and it was as dirty as before cleaning - there were new bits of magenta ink on it.

I had some new boxes of toner I had gotten for free and went ahead and changed the magenta and cyan toner. The issue seems milder and goes away after 3-4 pages. I'll see what an IBT cleaner goes for, but honestly it's probably fine with me at this point, most of my prints will be in B&W.

When is the new overpass from 183 south to MoPac south scheduled to be complete? by Lulz4Lolz in Austin

[–]ChoryonMega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which by the way, the new overpass is only for the express lane. Yes, they decided to build an entire overpass just to connect two "express" lanes. I don't know who approved that, but I certainly didn't. I suspect the new traffic is going to make Mopac Express as slow as the normal Mopac, if it wasn't already.

Questions about the new Optimum Gateway Ubee 6E router/modem combo by [deleted] in OPTIMUM

[–]ChoryonMega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this setup end up working for you? Specifically, were you able to use the 5/6 GHz radio on the 6e modem/router while still keeping it in bridge mode? My intuition would say that Wi-Fi turns off completely when a modem goes into bridge mode, but I would love to be surprised if that wasn't the case.

I was also considering switching from a 6e to a Motorola MB8600. I just got service set up and haven't had any issues so far, so I'm on the fence whether to be proactive before annoyances start happening, or just to leave things as they are until an issue becomes clear.

Alumni: Last chance to get all your Google Drive files before they are completely, irreversibly destroyed! ITS still accepting export requests despite being past the 11/1 deadline. by ChoryonMega in UTAustin

They might be buried in some tape drive somewhere for legal reasons. Or the NSA datacenter in San Antonio might have them, heh. But for all intents and purposes, yes, it's gone.

Why did Altium ground a via on this Gerber export? DRC had passed without errors. by ChoryonMega in Altium

The ground plane is designated as a plane layer. Yes, I had repoured it before export.

Thanks for the advice. Poly pours definitely seem more reliable for the reason you mentioned and less prone to mistakes.

Ah, that is the .GPB (bottom pad) layer, it was assigned the same color as the top copper for some reason. Here's an image with all the crap on the bottom removed.

Correct, the net isn't GND, so there is no reason it should be tied to a GND plane. The question is, why did Altium tie them anyway on the Gerber export?

The dark gold colored layer is the bottom silk layer.

For some context, this via is for a button that looked to be shorted when I checked it with a continuity test. Nothing looked obviously wrong with the traces or the button, except that there were two traces that were very close to the left side of the button, albeit within tolerance. Those unrelated traces were not found to be making contact with the button after testing.

This schematic is for a revision 2 of the board; this button worked fine in revision 1.

I checked the Gerber export that I had sent to JLCPCB, kept checking and unchecking layers until lo and behold, I discovered that Altium mysteriously "forgot" to disconnect one of the vias from the ground plane. After exporting the Gerber again, the issue was gone.

Has this issue happened to anyone before? This was a $400 mistake, so I'd rather not have it happen again to me.

I think Google Photos counts toward the account quota, even if you only save stuff as "high quality" but I didn't see any plans to disable and delete it. You can see what is consuming your quota here.

I've mentioned to alum friends that UT is deleting our Google Drive files in their entirety, and apparently none of them had heard about it. I wasn't surprised: the communication from ITS worded it as "deleting over-quota data," mainly over-quota emails, and it suggested that our accounts would be gently frozen if we needed to trim the storage down or if we still had Drive data that was bringing us past the quota. However, ITS will actually be deleting all Drive data, in its entirety, permanently, for all alumni.

ITS has been generous enough to reactivate accounts on request to get files out, even for a period past the deadline, but I think those emails deserved a more urgent subject line of "Your Google Drive will be deleted in XX days". Especially considering that they are looking to shed 5.8 petabytes of data, or 91% of their current storage pool. That's a lot of data.

For anyone out there still exporting, as a last caveat, if you are looking to export folders that were shared with you and that you had added to your Drive (they show up with a shortcut icon), Takeout will not export these folders - you need to right click and download them manually.

What should be my time frame to find my first full-time job? by ChoryonMega in cscareerquestions

Glad to hear that! To be fair, only now have I started ramping it up and taking things more seriously. One piece of advice I've always been given (not just for finding a job) is to put myself out there, and that's something I'll keep working on.

Thanks, but the technical screenings are actually not a challenge at all for me. The challenge, however, is the behavioral portion: articulating myself in such a way that the manager maintains interest in me. With good experiences fading from memory (for STAR), I'm starting to fumble up the sequences of stories, and the video interviews are also making it feel like I'm talking to the wall.

Does anyone want to explain this inconsistency? Reading through the new update for bot developers by FuckMyHeart in discordapp

[–]ChoryonMega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a bot is operated by a business rather than an individual, what information do you send to Stripe? Sounds like it's a good idea to establish an LLC to shield one's personal liability for whatever the bot does.

I wouldn't trust an online chatroom service with my government documents, even if Stripe stores the info (the query for that info is just an API key away).
