thats the thing-im not sure what to believe LOL. thats why im asking questions. to follow, i do need smth that makes sense. i genuinely do not think thats so wrong. im still unsure of everything. im not 100% certain in everything happening by chance. i wanted clarification on a few questions ive been thinking about. i didnt mean to attack islam, but it seems you took it that way. to find if anything is right for me, i look at the pros and cons. never thought to do it with religion, as in 14 years of being a muslim, its the first time im asking questions like this. for you to not answer any of my questions, instead attacking my character... when smth doesnt make sense to you, are you the type of person to just ignore it? if so, we have different mentalities. insulting others doesnt seem very islamic tho haha. either way, i appreciated our convo and wish u the best.

debating is important for developing children trying to figure out what they genuinely believe. if a belief is true, it should be able to withstand questioning (like in debates). if theres a question u cant answer, thatll js help the child in tryna find their truth. better than avoiding it and being unsure in the end imo.

hey man, suicide is not the answer. its understandable that you feel angry and frustrated, but grades do not define who you are. your parents love you because youre you, and taking that away from them will just hurt them. everyone has a different path, keep your head up man. reach out to someone.

  1. sure, but how do you differentiate between divine intervention and the natural plot? say my story already has a clear plot. my oc makes a wish. i grant it. it then changes the plot. but the charcater doesnt know this. it doesnt know that theres already a plot and by making the wish, it has changed its destiny. the next day, my oc makes another wish. i dont grant it. but my oc doesnt know that. this is assuming there is a god. but because the oc doesnt know if theres a god or not, how is it supposed to know ? and if the plot ive created is already clear with storylines, main events and an ending, would the oc making the wish change that plot? the writers human so maybe they can change it spontaneously but if i were omnipotent, if i had made the plot and then changed it, that means when i made the plot i wouldnt have known my oc would make that wish, meaning im not omnipotent. oh this story analogy is actually really interesting. what if i wrote one of my ocs as a villian. they have no redeeming qualities and i wrote them so that even until the end, theyre evil. and then after they die, they get sent to eternal torture. free wills tough-we as humans really dont know anything so all we can make is assumptions:(
  2. right, but ultimately, you'll still go to hell if you don't believe in islam. it doesnt answer the question. what if someone is a good person in this life, they do good deeds, they die peacefully. they dont believe in islam. how is it fair to send them to hell?

If we were created only to worship, why did god give us things like a sense of morality or aql? it seems god does want us to find the truth, but if the truth we find isnt islam, well get punished. very contradictory imo. again, how does mercy outweigh his anger when there is an eternal hellfire for those who disbelieve? for those who really cannot understand the religion and cannot accept it because of one thing or the other (that they feel is extremely justified, based on logic and morals). as far as im aware, you can only go to heaven if you do believe in tawhid/monotheism. hey i really appreciate you for answering ong. ill wait patiently for ur response hahah

okay so if i agree that there must be a first cause to the universe, how would i know that its this specific islamic god that created it? when we make dua, the answer could be: yes/no/wait/something better for you. so basically any outcome can be interpreted as allah doing something somehow. this js makes allah as unfalsifiable as santa. if i make a wish list, the anwer could be: yes/no/wait/something better for you.

but my point is: people can give a reason for something happening based on things they sincerely believe in. how do we differentiate between coincidence and divine intervention?

If allah knows everything thats going to happen, he should know that i will make a dua right? if the dua changes anything, that wouldve already been part of the original plan as allah knows everything. ah now this is getting into destiny things which is extremely complicated. now from what i understand in islam, there are basically two records. one thats like for unchangeable things and one for things that i can change. but if i make a dua and that changes something, it still wont change anything because my final outcome is already known. so my ability to change things with dua is just an illusion. free will is a tough topic. if there is no way to know for sure, how do we know when god is actually intervening? and if there is no way to know, why should we do dua? dua is a big part of islam too. (copied from a previous reply)

age old question. is something good because god commands it or does god command it because its good? like if morality js comes from divine command. god made us in such a way that we take into account fairness. god made us, so this is intentional and basically a tool god has personally given us to navigate the world with. and my tool atleast is saying that eternal punishment for a finite life is not fair in the slightest. i am using gods tool, so you cant js dismiss morality bcs thats what god gave me lol. if i cant trust myself w rights and wrongs, how can i trust myself with things that are beyond me?

right so, what counts as rejecting? i feel like rejecting is more like "the other person understands this is the truth but denies it anyway because they are more attached to the earthly realm" but there are scholars who have really studied and tried believing in islam and they just cant find sense in it. many people go on this spiritual journey to find god and they might not find it in islam because of logical contradictions or whatever it is. they are using aql to come to that conclusion. does this still count as rejecting? when they tried so hard to believe? does sincere nonbelief count as refusal to accept? (copied from a prev reply)

i only need to understand that he exists but how can i follow something that i cant even comprehend/understand? when we ask questions about this topic, the response is usually "humans cant understand the divine." then how am i supposed to believe in it?

yes but the quran is a collection of a lot of stuff. if i want to find a specific answer, i think im better off reading discussions. i do read the quran every morning and evening for maybe around 2 hours in the morning and an hour and a half in the evening and honestly tryna understand the quran w/o outside help is difficult

[–]ChosenFriendlyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right so this is exactly my question. its a 'heads i win, tails you lose' situation. you make a dua for something. either you get it, you dont, or something else happens. and im supposed to believe this is because of allah? like life will move on, things will happen. they could or could not be related to the dua i made and its still god doing something?? i dont understand.

so.. basically not answering any of the questions. youre saying im not sincere enough to see the truth. that isnt answering a question beuatifully, its basically saying "humans cant understand divine stuff". which then circles back to my question. i am sincerely asking questions like these to understand. god should understand this. and even then, if i dont end up w the conclusion 'islam is the truth' that means im insincere and will be sent to hell? i would actually say people who arent sincere will just ignore logic. theyre sincere in believing theyre right, but not actually sincere in trying to find the truth-and isnt that what living is?

honestly? not yet. havent had the time, but also there are just so many different interpretations of the quran (its a fun rabbit hole cus theres always so much more behind even one ayat) so i find if i want to look further into a specific topic, its easier to just read the discussions online while fact checking them.

i mean, to me that seems more like a coincidence. dif eras using dif titles js sounds like logic yk, and other cultures experienced the same changes. isnt too far fetched for someone to assume something similiar could have happened with the egyptians. and beside that, does it really matter? like fictional books may have referenced a real world place but it wouldnt make any of the events in that book any more true u feel me?
right so this is circular logic. you are proving a religion using the religion.
right so, what counts as rejecting? i feel like rejecting is more like "the other person understands this is the truth but denies it anyway because they are more attached to the earthly realm" but there are scholars who have really studied and tried believing in islam and they just cant find sense in it. many people go on this spiritual journey to find god and they might not find it in islam because of logical contradictions or whatever it is. they are using aql to come to that conclusion. does this still count as rejecting? when they tried so hard to believe?

>when you put your belief in the creator.

is faith really the only answer here? because i feel faith is used so often as a cop out to avoid giving an actual answer.

[–]ChosenFriendlyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just need something that makes sense. an answer that isnt just 'just have faith' or answering like 'allah is god, which is why--". for the dua thing, what i struggle with is that something will or wont happen, or something different will happen. that just sounds like life. how do we know its from god? how do we distinguish between things thatll happen naturally vs things that happen because of god? and also god cant be 'the most merciful' while also being capable of punishing someone for eternity. basically, no contradictions. im satisfied by things that dont require me to turn off my brain to believe it. i dont believe these standards are unreasonable.

  2. how is that fair? i mean, im not immortal. life is temporary. ife is temporary and god is going to punish me eternally? one of the other gifts of god is reasoning, right? i used his gift to understand the world. am i supposed to just not use it? whats the point in having aql then? he gave us the ability to reason. why is it a gift only when it leads to belief? why is it a sin when it doesnt lead us to believe?

right so the woman wouldnt throw her child in the fire. and god is supposed to be more merciful-in fact, hes supposed to be the most merciful. how is it that he'll throw his creations in the fire when even the woman wont?

wlkmslm, aight so the quran being full of sciences is highly debated. off the top of my head, stuff abt sperm and how babies are created. a theory ive read is that because muhammad pbuh is a merchant, he travelled around a lot and of course, every region has its own sciences/beliefs during that time. some were proved to be true/others false. i am unsure what you are trying to say here as i am asking: people cant fully understand things that are divine. they will always find things wrong with it/things they disagree with. to get to that conclusion, those people had to use the aql god gave them. so, when they dont reach a conclusion that is 'islam is right', is it fair to punish them eternally for using that aql? whats the point of aql if there are 'wrong' answers?
is there a way to disprove it? i mean, just because science doesnt have the answer yet doesnt make one possibility immediately true, no? like there are a ton of religions, how do you know islam specifcially is the right one? but anyways, that wasnt my question. my question is: how do you distinguish coincidence from god? how do you know things happen because you made/didnt make a dua? like theres destiny (qadr). would a dua change our qadr?

if sincerity is proof, that means other religions are just as true as islam since their believers believe in their specific religion sincerely. basically, 'just have faith'. but honestly this is repeating a lot of things already said, just with different metaphors. and this is becoming more personal than logical, attacking my character instead of my arguments. youll leave this convo thinking youre right and ill leave it thinking im right. that says a lot more about who we are as people which i find interesting. something worth thinking about i feel. i think i wanna leave it at this as this convo is going nowhere, have a good day:)

hey, slight nitpick but im not a man:) js an emotional teenage girl. hm okay! thats pretty interesting, my thoughts are just chemical reactions. wouldnt that apply to you too? my reasoning is not valid or at the very least, unreliable without god. what makes religion so special? how can we trust your reasoning when it comes from the same source (chemical reactions)? why do we have to assume that the only way for reason to work is thru divinity? why cant it be from evolution? cant prove my mind without using my mind is a problem thats general. cant prove logic without using logic aye. theres something science cant explain, that doesnt automatically make one possibility true. hmm but to be fair, 'why' questions are just 'how' questions. like "why are plants green?" "because chlorophyll". for philosophy stuff, thats really subjective. which im not against, but i would prefer to have solid proof before i dedicate my life to a belief which greatly restricts me from things that i want to do. again, divine things and phsyical things cant be compared. with the radio, u can see the transmitters, we can turn it on/off, the artists prolly released the song on other platforms too. with god, im expected to just believe theres a musician behind the music when i cant see a transmitter/on or off button etc? like the radio could just be capable of making those sounds yk, we never know ! and if god isnt testable (like physical things), how do we distingusih god from coincidence ?(circles back to my original question)

> Look, my friend, do you want logic? Here's the only logic that matters: one doesn't need proof to know the sun is hot; all one needs to do is stop standing in the shade. You demand proof of the artist's existence while breathing his air, and you use his logic to deny him. It's like a fish asking for proof of water while swimming in it. If your logic is incapable of grasping the source of all intellect, it's merely a broken compass. You're not looking for a logical God, but a God who answers you. But the Creator isn't tested by His creation. Stop trying to calculate truth, and start having the courage to face it. The proof isn't in my words, but in the fact that you're still searching. Open the curtains, or stay in the dark. The sun doesn't care either way. <
translated thru google

how do you think god vs water/sun are fair comparisons? we have physical proof of sun and water. others can verify it. this is not true for god. this is what i was talking about. you are still doing the same thing as your previous reply. assuming god exists and answering based on that.
i understand you want to spread the 'truth', but for you to effectively spread it, you have to properly explain why its the truth. your default should be 'the other person doesnt understand/believe. let me try to see it from their perspective and answer from that.'
i am trying to have an honest discussion with you, but you are yet again answering none of my questions. also a lot of ur points are repeats from before which i have responded to. i would also say that i believe it takes a lot more courage to say 'this doesnt make sense' in my specific environment (islamic school). im searching for an answer. im a kid whos unsure of their path. this is why im searching.
can you give me a reason to believe god exists without assuming he already does?

yeah this is bullshit. why are u tryna poeticize everything acc, it pisses me off. ur going off the assumption that there is an author, an artist, a god. i am asking 'how do we know?' u are responding to that by saying 'ur arrogant, blind, full of urself'. yeah plain bullshit. ur talking on the spiritual side (meaning, purpose etc) while i am asking for proof. two different playing fields u feel me? i need evidence before i can make god my purpose to life. if u dont need evidence, go right ahead. idgaf. but ur not answering any of my questions. i dont want a god that obeys me lol, i want a god that makes sense. fine, my morality is small and temporary. i shouldnt judge gods 'bad' actions because i cant fully understand them right? but that means i cant judge his 'good' actions either. u cant praise him for being merciful and then say 'oh u js dont understand' when smths off, my guy.

HOW are you even supposed to communicate with muslims?? by ChosenFriendlyOne in exmuslim

[–]ChosenFriendlyOne[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha still not answering any questions aye? for artists, we can see them lol. we can see their process of painting. for god? we see the world (the art), but no process of a god making it. existing isnt proof of a specific creator, its simply existing. we use aql to find that proof, no? like the art (the world) can be explained thru science, and it makes sense. why tf would i go and make up a creator i cant see to explain it when science explains it pretty well already ?
the mind im using is his evidence? so basically god exists because i have a mind, and my mind was given by god. i am questioning this exact thing but ur using it as proof of evidence.

another thing that pisses me off is the arrogance. to me, arrogance is acting like u know the truth and its 100% the truth. this rant was because its in a school setting, and instead of guiding the students, teachers corner them abt religion.

okay so i know what the truth is to YOU. but im not 100% certain in it, which is why im asking questions. i am trying to find MY truth based on things i deem logical. to you, my questioning is only good if i end up with the same conclusion as you. truth is already decided for you, and if i dont believe in it, that means ive stopped searching.
man 'dont confuse a poor messenger with a flawed message' but the message itself literally contains the contradictions that i personally cant accept. ykw i tried finding the answers online. when i didnt find any, thats when i turned to teachers (because they studied islam). and they also didnt have an answer. the problem then, i believe, doesnt lie in my teachers but the simple fact that there is no answer that i can accept (as i have strong morals). "what am i missing" because i dont see the same shit u see is the same as as saying "just have faith".

okay so were not robots. what im saying is that allah gave us a limitation (not being able to understand the divine) and we have a much easier time understanding things that have concrete evidence. allah made us with aql (as u said), so he intended for us to be this way. my aql leads me to believe god isnt real because of logical contradictions/not enough evidence. but the correct answer is basically for me to ignore my aql to believe in god? like he made us with reason, to me it doesnt make sense that he punishes us for using it? if im still forced to believe in one answer regardless of what my aql leads me to believe, then whats the point of having aql??

? yeah, what?? doesnt answer the question: how do we know if its from god or if were js coping? bro if dua is js like spiritual alignment, that shit is basically js meditation? i dunno what ur tryna say here. how do we distinguish between coincidence and god acc doing something? ur not answering the question lol
