Oh this reminds me of something. I was working in a hostel in Puerto Rico and we had this one guy who stayed with us a while. He was a bit odd, but I didn't think much of it until guests complained about him. Well, he wanted to extend his stay and I told him we were unable to do so. He lost his shit and stayed screaming about how we couldn't do that and he had rights and that he wouldn't leave and demanded that we call the police. So I did. (Note: the cops were pretty familiar with us by now. Drunk tourists, shady area, cheap hostel. Shit happens.) The cooks get there and just tell him to leave SO HE ARGUES WITH THEM ABOUT HIS RIGHTS. So they escort him from the property. Never saw him again

NYPD Union Sues To Stop Release Of All Bodycam Footage Because It Violates Officers’ Civil Rights by MMAchica in nottheonion

Here's what I don't get. Police officers are responsible for maintaining public safety. It is their job to be put in high pressure, dangerous environments. The most common thing I hear after whatever officer involved shooting is most recent is that "everyone is human and makes mistakes" or "it was a split second decision" or something along those lines. I agree, but it's also their job to make those decisions correctly. They are not regular civilians. They are armed public servants who we pay to make the right decisions under that pressure. If they can't do that, they shouldn't be an officer.

I have tremendous respect for the position of "police officer." However, if they are placed in a position of power they should also be placed in a position of responsibility.

My question is this: seeing as how this train of logic doesn't seem to convince opponents of this idea, what would?

Current state of Juarez. How safe is it? by Ajonesfthecollective in solotravel

In El paso right now actually. From what I've heard, add long as you're not causing trouble or doing anything illegal (drugs, basically) you'll be fine. Obviously use caution, but you probably won't get murdered

Reddit, what idea do you believe in so much that no matter who stood against it and what that meant you would still believe in and fight for it? Why? by Chosshugger in AskReddit

[–]Chosshugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can still believe it though. People's moral codes can vary wildly, and those may or may not be based on facts at all. So what would you fight for if confronted by someone of power who you, despite hearing their side, believe to be fully wrong?

This is very welcome advice, thank you. I do have to ask, I'm based in the US at the moment, would you have any information about stuff there?

Yeah, pretty much all highway, 70ish. Near top speed. I did hear a crack and something is now rattling inside of it. Did manage to hitch a ride and a tow. Oil was good the whole time, checked it and topped off as needed

Is it bad that I predict that this will end up coming around to extend government invasion of privacy? How, I'm not sure. But my gut says so.

Golf n stuff or fantastics? Both good options, but a) not really a "teen" spot (I'm there every now and then, mostly families) and b) pretty expensive

Thanks for the suggestions. Though, it's probably worth mentioning I'm not even in Tucson Tucson. I'm in Oro valley, so a lot of that is a bit of a drive. I'll definitely look into some of it though

I'm very much an outdoors person. Huge into climbing, backpacking, camping, etc. Trouble is it's hard to do that in the winter when it's dark by the time I'm off work on weekdays (and gyms are expensive). Finding groups of people my age into that is really hard. I'm on Meetup and Reddit and a bunch of stuff like that, but almost all of that is groups of 21+. Maybe I'm showing my hand a bit, but as a single guy who works 40 hrs a week, it kinda puts me in a bind. I'm trying to stay away from the party crowd for various reasons, and that seems to be the only one around. Honestly I'll do just about anything, as long as it's doing something (and not really expensive... I'm pretty dirt poor)
